New OH Member seeking other Vermonters on this board
Hi All,
I am 35 years old and am scheduled to have lap gastric bypass on July 2nd. I am new to the OH website and still finding my way around. I've searched the OH forums for an active group in Vermont, but have yet to find one. I am hoping my post here will be appropriate, or at least help me to locate others in the State. My surgeon will be Dr. Laurie Spaulding, co-surgeon will be Dr. Patrick Forgione. For the first time in this whole surgical preparedness process, I am getting nervous. I'm anxious to hear from others (both pre-op and post-op) and learn from your experiences.

Hello,
I am South Burlington, Vermont. I am having Lap Band surgery June 16th :) I do not use this site normally as I found for myself that SparkPeople.com has a bit more active and easier to navigate for myself site, some times I log into LapBandTalk.com as well. Depends.
My surgeon is Dr. Forgione. I am very excited and nervous, today is just ten days away and I have started my ten day pre op diet today. Take care, Barbara
Hi, I had Dr. Spaulding do my RNY this past July. Don't be nervous you are in wonderful hands. Dr. Spaulding is one of best surgeons in the world who does this type of surgery. After I had my surgery, she was so wonderful the entire time I was in the hospital. I have lost a total of 220 pounds total . Well take care and I would love to hear from you again on your journey. Tracy (your NY friend)
Hi, I'm so excited for you. I called Dr. Spauldings office 2 weeks ago to get started in the process. They said they are running 3 weeks behind in getting the paperwork out. I'm so ready to get going with it. How long did it take from the time of your first appointment until you were scheduled for the surgery? I know there is a lot of testing before. Best of luck! Kathy
Hi Kathy and congratulations on taking the first step toward better health. Are you looking into bypass or lap band?
I submitted my paperwork in Oct 07, had my first group orientation in Nov, and my first meeting with the doctors in Dec. The initial steps seemed to take forever but are worth the wait.
I am on day 2 of my 10 day pre-op liquid diet and now it seems like the preparation time went really quickly.
Keep us posted on your journey and all the best!
Joanne
Thanks Joanne, October-July isn't a bad wait. I was thinking 18 months. I just turned 38 and would like to have bypass surgery done before I turn 40. I know a couple of people that have gone to Laurie and had great success. Good luck on your surgery next week. Please post and let me know how your feeling. How long are you planning on being out of work? Kathy
I am 34 years old, scheduled for laparoscopic gastric bypass with Forgione/Spaulding July 30th. My first appointment with them was Dec. 6, 2007. Just do all your "homework" that they ask you to do and keep the process moving along-and keep on top of your insurance company! I have told my employer I will be out of work 4 weeks, but hope to be back in 3 weeks-we'll see! Good luck and I hope to chat with you more! Becky
Joanne-Best of luck Wednesday! I am scheduled for lap roux-en-Y on July 30th and am counting the days-no,make that the hours-until surgery!
Drs. Forgione and Spaulding are also my surgical team and I love them! My mom-in-law had Dr. Spaulding for her open roux-en-Y 4 yars ago, and it saved her life! The whoel staff is so awesome-I feel so lucky to have found them!
Good luck and we're all cheering for you! Becky
