I am preparing for the lap band procedure. My Upper GI showed a small, 2-3 centimeter hiatal hernia, and some thickening of the lining of the stomach. I've never experienced any symptoms. I'm going to have endoscopy done by the surgeon who will do the surgery so he can determine what exactly is there. If it is too big he will likely not perform the surgery if the hernia will interfere with the lap band. In my research I found this is fairly common with weight loss surgery patients as they prepare. I was very dissapointed yesterday, though feeling better today. I really want to have this surgery as I feel the lap band is the right tool for me. Is there anyone else out there who experienced this and would consider sharing your experience with me and what knowledge you have about how big is too big for a hiatal hernia. I believe I can consider other weight loss surgeries if the lap band turns out not to be possible. My BMI is 43. Thanks, Andrea
