Congratulations on 11 years, what an accomplishment. It sounds like a challenge living in a remote area, so best of luck with your shopping trips! It's pretty quiet around here these days. Best wishes.

Just dropping in to say hi on my 11th surgery anniversary. I have gained some weight back, but am working on getting it back off. It is really easy to put it back on when old habits get the best of us. Grocery shopping in small town ND can be a huge challenge, so I am ordering some stuff online, and driving to a bigger city with a Costco about every 4-6 weeks to stock up on healthier staple items such as cheese, almond flour, and chicken. I will try to pop in more often now that I work closer to home.
Good morning,

It's completely normal to have those pre-surgery jitters and concerns about how it might affect your mental state. Surgery, especially one as transformative as VSG, can be a rollercoaster of emotions. I had the same issues when I was in your shoes.
I had my surgery in 2011 too. I have regained and relost over the years and was seeing an uphill trajectory. I was so tired of dieting all of my life (in my mid 60s) and knew I had to address my issues once and for all. I read " Food Junkies" by Dr. Vera Tarman and joined her FB page and had a lightbulb moment. I knew I had disordered eating but soon realized I was addicted to certain foods as well. I went totally sugar free and processed food free and my weight stabilized for the first time in my life. I have lived this lifestyle for about 4 years now having two relapses but have been on point for over two years now straight. The peace is incredible. I eat a low carb diet as I am still diabetic so very little flour and grains. I focus on protein and veg with very limited fruit and dairy. I love this lifestyle and my body loves it too. I don't obsess over food and no more binging at all which is huge for me. Was it hard - not really - as the way I was living and eating was killing me. IMHO there is no other solution so worth a try. Surgery is a tool and unless you make lifestyle changes you will not be successful - my experience. I was looking into a revision as well but gave the sugar free grain free lifestyle a try and found it so healing.

I am very sorry to hear about the difficulties you have faced and the loss of your daughter.
I am very sorry to hear about the difficulties you have faced and the loss of your daughter. It is understandable that these experiences have affected your well-being and attention to your own health. Taking care of yourself is very important, especially now that you have taken on the responsibility of raising your grandchildren. It's great that you are motivated to get back on the right track and make your health a priority. I advise you to get checkups with doctors more often, so you can understand your health status. I usually use this site https://www.vipdentalny.com/, they have quality dental exams.
