You did something to your thread making it unanswerable, at least for me. Here's my reply. If it is just me - mods feel free to move into thread.
Chill. While my meals are very much smaller, they aren't tiny. It starts out that way the first year, but normalizes over time. There are significant changes and you better get your mind right and right now. You might need therapy, I did and it makes the difference. You need to change your relationship with food, but the tiny food thing isn't life long. But and this is a real but - the core changes are!! Good luck

I am sorry you are dealing with GERD. I know that is horrible.
I had RNY and unfortunately for me, my WLS contributed to me getting GERD long term post-op.
I am currently on Rx PPI, Dexilant. That is the only one that really helps. I have been trying to get off that one, and most days I can take 30 mg to control it. But I still have weeks when I need 60 mg and zantac and Tums.
If you have not done that - please ask to be checked for Barrett Esophagus. Precancerous condition of cells in Esophagus. Unfortunately I had some changes already.
Also - sometimes GERD is caused by food allergies - intolerances or sensitivities.
Eating some foods can cause severe burning in my throat for days. Avoiding that food helps clearing up the burn and pain.
Good luck finding an answer.
BTW: looks like you are 4 years post op, not 5 if your surgery was in 2015.

Hi all, I am new here. I had my surgery Aug 30, and so far everything has been okay. Besides for last night, I was awoken by a pain. Like it felt like my stomach was creating a collapse on my lung. I couldn't lay down, nor sit up. I guess it could just be residual air that was pumped inside me from the surgery. Also, I haven't been able to make a bowel movement. All in all I am excited to lose weight, but I find myself already scared about future regain.
Let me know your thoughts
Thanks I always seem to make my way back to OH it helps me put things into perspective and realize I'm not the only one going through this type of stuff.

2 years and I've struggled losing since because GERD makes you feel hungry all the time. I right now have been on a roll though I have yet to see onderland. I've lost 25 pounds since November.

I don't have any advice but wanted to say I'm sorry that you're struggling. I've had a couple of stalls during my 5 months and found it quite a struggle. Hopefully you're surgeon is able to help you. Good Luck !
I feel like I should have never done this. Im sick of all this liquid and protein talk. Im sitting here reading other posts of people eating 2 or 3 spoonfuls of food.....really??? Is that how life is going to be??
I can deal with a baby plate or bowl but 2 or 3 tspns really???
Then- all the fat free sugar free c*** the nutritionist talks about has actually been proven to be worse for you. If you eat the foods in moderation thats the key....which before we all struggled with becaise we cpuld fill our 2 liter stomachs. I want to be healthy and lose weight obviously the reason I did this....but reading about the 2 to 3 bites is extreme ....too much no good...too little no good either
Stresseddddd ?????????????????????????????????????
Hey so sorry you have been having a hard time with GERD. Welcome back. Hope everything works out and you get your revision. Question..How long after the VSG did you start having symptoms of GERD. I am almost 7 months Post- OP and No signs of GERD as of yet and I am not on a PPI.

I don't regret having sleeve but I don't like the reflux with rny the chance for reflux is less or none but either way your life and relationship with food is most definitely going to change.. Which ever you decide good luck.

I'm 5 years post op and have struggled with GERD and tried to get revision approved but my insurance don't consider GERD as a medical necessitie for revision make sure your surgeon adds all of you comorbidities for the reason for your revision.
