Im so sorry to hear that. That would be devastating!! I really frustrates me that Insurance companies can and will do this. My last job was a Security job i ended up gaining over 100 LBs working that job 3 hrs on a bus each day + 12 hrs watching cameras in a chair with very little patrolling or truck searches then back on the bus to go back to town was not good for the health or waistline. And the insurance they offered very very over priced did not cover anything nutrition or bariactric wize to help rectify it or help with keeping their employees healthy and was one of the main deciding factors i left that job. I wish i still had the link There was a Surgeon that was based out of mexico english/spanish and some other language speaking i guess he started his practice in the states and ended up moving down there eventually * i might be wrong there* but his prices were WAY WAY better and me and my family were considering that at one point if i didn't end up going to the hospital for chest pains and maxing out my insurance here. Keep your chin up Friend. Hopefully all the hard work you have put in so far has had some positive effects so far at-least i know when i went on my liquid diet pre op i actually ended up losing about 45-50 lbs before i even had the surgery and getting the diet change in and of it self can be a huge step twords helping out If the worst ends up and nothing comes of it. Hopefully something will work out for you mate!
Hey guys Thought i would share my experience so far I am still just over 1 moth out post op. The vitamins ive been taking are actually Bariatric Fusion. I really liked the idea of only having to take 1 chew-able 4x a day to get most of my nutrients for the day. I probably could use more supplements like more calcium or magnesium but these ones have been doing great for me i think. I don't really get gas or constipated yet. They seemed to be sweetened with Juice powder i have strawberry right now and sucralose witch i'm not super happy with but could be a lot worse. There is less then 1 g of sugars per tablet. and less then 5 calories. Not sure if that might help at all. where im at its about 26$ for a month supply. Witch compared to the massive amount of pills i would have other wise had to take is ALOT ALOT cheaper. Im really glad i haven't gotten constipated yet cuz i know im still having problems getting enough of my liquid particularly water intake. I made some lemon ade the other day lemon juice + water + monk fruit and i swear i drank a bottle of ex-lax it was very effective not that i wanted it to happen that way there was something else i was going to comment on but i can no longer remember what it was so ill stop now. lol Just sharing my information. The long timers here have helped me alot so far reading previous posts and hearing their responses to other peoples problems that i have had as well ^_^
My Surgery is set for Monday Dec. 9, 2019. Monday I got a phone call from my insurance's approval team saying that they were denying my surgery coverage due to a provision in my employers insurance policy. The coordinator at my doctors office had spoken to the insurance customer care team back in May when I started this entire process and they told her I was covered. When she called again on Monday they told her I was again covered but the approval team said I'm not. Both I and the Benefits coordinator called several times They said my only options was an expedited grievance, which I wrote out and submitted on Tuesday, I was told the the decision would be made by today and guess what? I was denied.
I feel so discouraged. I don't have Monday to pay for it, I spent so much time and effort, was on the liquid diet. Since before thanksgiving.
I feel lost and upset.

I think getting on a reasonably strong birth control before surgery will help a lot, provided you can take them. I see my gyn next week and am hoping she can give me something stronger.
I spoke with the nurse/doctor, and they let me take 800mg 2x/day for 4 days. By the time I called though, my period seriously just...stopped within two days. It has never done that before. I went from two pads front to back to like, not bleeding overnight. I really want to stress that you should NOT take NSAIDS unless the doctor says it is ok, and even then it will likely be super controlled. I was on an ibuprofen regimen for my periods prior, and know it helped me (literally the only thing that ever did) so I think that is why. That, and I was like...45 days post op? Maybe more? Again, trust your physician. Thanks for letting me vent here.
Many employers are no longer covering weight loss surgery or have a once in a lifetime limit. Insurance companies are tough to work with. I get approval letters that will say the procedure is covered but there is go guarantee of payment.
I guess that means that they agree I need the procedure but they might not pay for it. It is really strange.
Good luck on finding a way to get the surgery. There is a law firm that specializes in cases like this. Give them a call.

I'm always so sorry to see this type of post. When an insurance company agrees to any procedure here at our house, we get them to send us that answer on their company letterhead. It's saved us a few times over. We had to learn it the hard way.
But most people don't think of that and especially if they've never been in a situation such as yours. You might want to start doing that from here on out, although I know it won't help you right now.
When you actually read your policy through for yourself, what does it say? If it doesn't flat out decline to cover bariatric surgery you may have an opening. Especially if they approve on a case by case basis. You've got lots of documentation (I'm hoping) that would support an appeal.
If that avenue is completely closed there are still other options. Some places finance medical procedures. There is one called Care Credit and perhaps that could be an opportunity? Other folks dip into their retirement/401k because they decide that this surgery IS really that important. There is also Mexico, etc. and if you haven't had a chance already you may want to look into that.
Knowing there is no magic answer makes it difficult to encourage, but you may find something while you're looking through your last options. Good luck to you. Keep trying until there aren't any options left. At least you'll know you've done every last thing that you could.

Have you spoken to the insurance coordinator in your surgeon's office? They may be able to help.
