this sounds delicious! I have lots of SF torani syrups and can try this out when I buy the seeds. Exactly the kind of suggestions I'm looking for - thank you :)

I've had a great experience incorporating chia seeds into my diet. These tiny seeds are a powerhouse of nutrition, packed with omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, protein, and essential vitamins and minerals. Adding chia seeds to my meals has improved my digestion, helped me maintain a healthy weight, and kept me feeling fuller for longer due to their high fiber content. I love their versatility - whether it's adding them to smoothies, oatmeal, or yogurt, or using them to create delicious puddings and energy bars. The mild, nutty flavor blends well with other ingredients. Just remember to let them soak in liquid before consuming to prevent any digestive discomfort. Overall, chia seeds have become a staple in my kitchen, and I highly recommend trying them for a nutrient-packed boost to your meals!

My bariatric nurse walked me to the scale and weighed me before surgery. My first walk after surgery was back to the same scale. I was up 18 pounds in five hours. I was so upset and asked the surgeon what had happened. He laughed and said, "Go home and pee it out". At one week all of that and an additional five pounds was gone. It is normal and jus****er that is pumped in to do the laparoscopic surgery.

I can tell you what worked for me and why I don't think I needed weight lose surgery in the first place. First, I started walking every day for 45 minutes to an hour. Second, I stopped eating sugar and flour, then I gave up all processed foods and only eat fish, meat, eggs, dairy, veggies, nuts and seeds. I also drink or eat a fermented food each day like Kombucha, Kimchi or plain Greek yogurt. I also do intermittent fasting with only eating 2 meals per day during a 6-hour window. I also make a huge pot of bone broth and drink it when I am hungry. After 1 and 1/2 years I lost 80 pounds, got off all medications I was taking for severe hypertension and depression. I no longer have fatty liver disease, insulin resistance, nearsightedness and reseeding gum disease. I feel better and have more energy than I did when I was in my 20's. I am 68 years old, wear a size 6 jeans and most people tell me I look 20 years younger. My skin has never looked so good, and I sleep like a baby. Was it hard to give up all those unhealthy habits, you betcha?.........But the rewards are so great that I never look back. All of these methods for weight loss and improving your health are backed up with scientific studies. I did not go on a diet; I completely changed my lifestyle. I truly believe if I knew about processed carbohydrate addiction, insulin resistance, metabolic disorders and the solution, I would have never needed weight loss surgery. I wish you the best.

Welcome to the forums! Congratulations on your surgery.

I second Grim's response. Don't even remember how much I gained after surgery but it did take time to lose all the bloating, swelling, fluid, and other things that you went through. The IV's also add weighr.

Move and walk as much as you're able and stick with your plan while you heal. The weight will come off but your body is still coping with healing from major surgery.

It was explained to me that your altered stomach is just under your breastbone, so that is where you can get your "full" trigger. That happened to me for the first few months. Pressure there meant sipping/chewing/eating slower.

Wishing you the best!

Pretty much everyone does. They pump you full of liquids (and air) during surgery, and your body holds onto it while healing. I think I gained 11 pounds the day of surgery, and it took me about a week to get back to my starting weight.

Don't worry about it. You are perfectly normal.

I had my VSG done on 6/26/23 and weighed myself today. I am up 8.5 lbs, messaged my doctor and they said to take a diuretic to see if it will help. I can feel how bloated I am in my stomach and legs.

I am wondering if anyone else has had this right after surgery. I am struggling to get all of the protein in at this point, but doing okay on the water. I have pain in my breast bone area for about 2 seconds after I drink my .5 ounce sip. Assuming this is normal as I heal. In any case, just looking for support or if anyone has gone through something similar. I didn't expect to gain weight after the surgery. So, I am somewhat discouraged.
