6 years post surgery
Hi All,
I haven't been visiting the forum much lately, but I wanted to stop by and offer some encouragement to all of you who are in the process of working on your VSG and weight loss journey. And to say hello to any old timers who are still involved in the forum.
I had my surgery 6 years ago. I was 64 years old, 385 pounds with a BMI of 60 when I decided to have WL surgery. I was afraid of the surgery, and kept trying to "do it myself" until I found myself with less and less mobility. I could see myself losing more and more quality of life and heading for an early death. I decided to have the VSG, and I put my energy into it whole-heartedly. I lost 225 pounds, and on my one year sergi-versary, I traveled to Greece and climbed the stairs at the parthenon without a care!
6 years later, my husband and I have been taking several trips of year to make up for our many years when I was not able to travel. It is so wonderful to be healthy and mobile.
To all of you who are starting out on your weight loss journey, I just want to tell you that you can do it. Its not easy. It takes a long-term commitment. VSG is tool, it doesn't make the weight loss easy, but it does make it possible.
Best wishes,
Carol

Hi Carol,
i just want want to say thanks for your post. I will be 63 Sunday and am waiting for my surgery date. Because of a variety of family issues, this has been almost a year in the making. I have been having doubts lately because of all the delays, thinking maybe I'm not supposed to do this, I'm too old, is it really worth it, etc. Your post is great encouragement to me and it's timing couldn't be better. Congrats on your improved life!
Michelle
Hi Carol.
I'm 3 years out and not on here much either these days either. Happened to stop by and see your post. Wanted to say hello and thank you. Your posts were really helpful for me when I was going through my surgery.
Glad to hear all is well.
Lisa
