Getting Sleeved Tomorrow Morning

Tomorrow is my long-awaited surgery date! I'm having a hiatal hernia repaired and getting sleeved.

Please offer up prayers, good wishes, and hopeful thoughts for me!!

I hope all went well with your surgery. Was yours scheduled to be outpatient?

I am getting pretty nervous. My surgery is March 6th and I just started my 2 week liquid diet. The surgery is to be outpatient which is part of the nervousness.

Again, hoping all went well and you are recovering nicely...

My surgeon always requires an overnight stay to include an upper GI the next day to rule out a leak. That way, he knows that his patients are going home without a leak. Once that test is good, he orders a food tray (all liquids) and makes sure they can "stomach" a protein drink and water. If all that is good, he lets them go home.

Do you know if your doctor does an upper GI before letting you go home?

I would have been okay going home the same day as long as I had walked several times, kept liquids down, and been able to urinate.
