I am having my first consultation with my surgeon in March. I am looking for insurance to cover my surgery. I have so many questions on what it takes to get approved by Horizon BCBS of NJ.

I have already been seeing a nutritionist for 8 months now. I have recently decided to get surgery. Will this count against me for surgery approval since I failed at my current weight loss plan?

Will I still be able to see my current nutritionist after surgery if approved?

those are questions only your insurance company can answer. I'd give them a call. My insurance company required that the six-month supervised diet be sometime within the last two years, so at my company, and with my specific policy, your eight months with the nutritionist would have counted. But Horizon BCBS might be different Just contact them.
