Here waiting on insurance approval ughhh
I truly think that this is a life-saving surgery and every insurance company should be required to cover it. Unfortunately, after jumping through all kinds of hoops for 6 months because my insurance company required it, including lots of co-pays for the medically supervised weight loss they insisted upon, they denied my surgery...not because I didn't meet all of the requirements they set forth, but because they "made a mistake" and it wasn't supposed to be covered to begin with. Unfortunately, there was no way I could have known this because it was not spelled out in the plan documents at the time I started this journey. Believe me, I was devastated when I got the call from my surgeon's office about the denial. Of course, I filed an appeal, but was denied. But then, I decided that I was not going to let anything stand in my way. We decided to refinance our house so I could have the surgery, and it was one of the best things I have ever done for myself.
I'm glad you're standing up for yourself. That's a really good thing. Don't ever give up. Patients have the right to be treated with dignity, and part of that is appropriate and timely follow through. Always continue to advocate for yourself no matter what.
Oh honey I'm in the same boat. I finished EVERYTHING they wanted me to but for some reason arkansas medicaid isn't on their **** They arent reimbursing surgeons like they're supposed to so now i have to wait until March 1st before my surgeons nurse will submit my paperwork. Keep us updated. We may be surgery twins :D
We will do awesome!!! Ive been watching what I eat a lot more and I've lost 10 lbs in the last month. I don't get a bunch of exercise though so thats something i for sure have to work on. I've been following a ton of VSG pages on Instagram to keep me motivated to stay on this path. Progress one step at a time lol
I am now getting really nervous and anxious. Just had ekg and clearance and chest X-ray done tomorrow labs. This is getting real. I'm trying so hard to watch what I eat. I will be put on 2 week liquid diet but not sure if clear or purée I will ask next week when I go to the dietician class. Bc I eat a lot of lentils sometimes that's all I eat vegan style everyday for dinner and lunch. I make a mean lentil butternut squash vegan curry. It's super nutritious but has carbs so that's one of my questions. What's the news on you.
