Strange feeling

So... I was out for a walk in the park near my house today and I felt GOOD. Like fully alive, in my body, headed in the right direction and healthier by the day good.

And then all of a sudden BANG I felt weak, trembly, exhausted, dizzy and like I might fall / pass out. I went straight home, drank some water and ate something thinking dehydration or hypoglycemia but it took a while for the feeling to pass and it was really unsettling.

What the heck?

This happened to me when I went to a bingo a few weeks after surgery. I sat down for a while before my head cleared, since I was driving.

I just find I tire out a lot earlier after surgery. You don't mention how old you are. Are you over 50? That might have something to do with it. I am.

Hi,

No, I'm 38. Surgery was almost 3 months ago. I've been feeling pretty good lately. Walking regularly and some hiking. I did get a bunch of lab work done a few days ago---maybe that will provide some insight. When I got home I checked my BP and pulse. 140/80 and 83. Blood pressure a little high for me but nothing extreme.

WOW! As I was reading your post I was thinking "dehydration". Maybe your lab work will give you some insight. Wishing you the best!

I'm 7 months out from surgery, and I still occasionally experience bouts such as you describe. It always comes on suddenly. There are lots of things that I can do more easily now, and so I sometimes push myself too far. That's usually when I get dehydrated.

In my case, I know it's dehydration because water always makes the feeling go away. Also, I've just received my blood work results, and everything's grand.

I've gotten that exact feeling a few times now and it always seems to be dehydration. So I've went and bought a huge water bottle that holds my 8 cups of water and make sure I sip that during the day so i can monitor my intake rather than just grabbing a glass. Hope this helps.

Im 3 months post surgery and I experienced that initially and discovered that drinking some Powerade Zero made a huge difference. Your body needs electrolytes which you aren't going to get from water. I try to drink about 8oz of Powerade a day and I seldom get light headed now. Hope it helps.

Thanks all for the feedback. I'll get some Powerade or Gatorade zero again. And keep better track of my fluid intake. I feel so normal now that I think I take for granted that my body is doing fine.
