Hey everyone!

I just had my VSG done on Thursday the 6th and I'm already beginning to feel better! The only issue I'm having is some pretty wicked heartburn. I'm on the clear liquid diet and havent had anything besides clear liquids for about 7 days. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks!

Mary

This is fairly common - most of us need to take a PPI for the first few months post-op while our stomachs get used to the new amount of acid they need to produce.

Well that is a relief! Thanks so much for the speedy response, I just wanted to make sure something wasn't wrong. I'll be sure to let my doctor know on Monday that I'll need a script for an acid reducer.

I had really bad reflux for months and I was on omeprazole (sp?) 2x a day plus Zantac 2x a day until my body got itself figured out - but don't take anything without discussing with you Dr. first... I had 3 different doctors at the time and they disagreed on which meds I should take and some over the counter reflux meds can interact with others....
