I guess I'll get us started!

Good morning, all! It's the last day of November. How did that happen?

I finished the rough draft of my HMGT paper yesterday and that was my goal in order to have some fun today. I've got a DEXA scan and RMR scheduled later today and then I'm meeting up with my BFF at the Kennedy Center for a Hamilton Sing Along. We'll see how that works since it's a free, unticketed event and I predict it'll be a zoo! I'll be out of the house from 11 until 11 and I'm not allowed to eat for 4 hours prior to my RMR.. so food is weird for me today.

QOTD: What was the best book you read in 2018? Tell us why you liked it the best. (I'll post in a comment.)

1: protein shake
2: protein bar (or something out if I can find something safe that fits my way of eating)
3: protein bar (or something out if I can find something safe that fits my way of eating)

liquid and vites: on track
exercise: nothing formal, but lots of walking in town!

How about you?

QOTD:

I've only read 28 books so far this year, and a lot were short story collections due to reasons of time. Since I get sucked into books, it's easier to stick to short stories/essay collections when school is actively in session.

I think my favorite book so far was Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff. It's got some Lovecraft undertones, but isn't super in your face about it. It's set in Jim Crow-era and is a series of interconnected but almost stand alone stories. I enjoyed it quite a bit and it's one of only three books that got a 4 or 5 star rating from me this year in Goodreads!

Yay DXA Scan! My company makes the machines and i work in that division! And, a Hamilton sing along- OMG. I'm listening to Hamilton right now - and the music is just constantly in my head. I LOVE IT! We went in Boston and my daughter is going again in PR.

QOTD: I've read a bunch of Elin Hilderbrand books this summer - they are typical beachy reads, but it was just what I needed and I find her characters interesting.

B: cheerios

L: idk

D: hoping to go for Mexican/southwestern as an excuse to pick up gift cards for Christmas, lol

E: walk, it's cold but sunny

L/V: good

Ooh, do you get free DXA scans as a result?

I love Hamilton so much. I saw it as a graduation present in NYC in May 2017 and then again in DC at the beginning of September this year. How awesome that your daughter is seeing it in PR!! I'm excited about the sing along, but anxious about how crowded it might be. :/

I totally get the "it was just what I needed" type of reading. That's the way the short story collections I read are. They're interesting and enjoyable, and fit the bill for what I need in terms of time/brainspace.

And argh cheerios again. Cheerios are one of my top two favorite cereals (Wheat Chex is the other) but I can't keep them in the house since I'll just eat them by the handful. Nom nom nom. I need to get those single serve boxes like they have in hotels or at camps!

They don't offer free DXA, but I know the engineers that work on it so I could probably convince them. They should give them to us free tho! We also make mammogram machines and often offer free mammograms to test new features.

My daughter is soooo excited. They were going for a wedding and the timing was perfect. I'm so jealous. Lin-Manuel is playing Hamilton every performance with no backup.

I go through breakfast phases and the cheerios are the current one. I also love the single serving size - we buy them for camping and with only two of us in the house, things don't go stale before they are eaten so even though they may be more expensive, they end up to be more economical.

Good morning! Sounds like a busy and fun day for you Gwen, especially the Hamilton sing along! Let us know if you enjoyed it.

Another gloomy day, really wet and extremely foggy. A lot of flights have been delayed yesterday and today because of it. Not sure of my plans yet for the day, I am hoping my mother does not want to go to the casino today:-)

QOTD-I would love to say I read a lot of great books in 2018! I had early onset cataracts in my 30's and ever since I had them removed I have been unable to read for any significant length of time. I have tried many times to finish a book, but can't. So I read a lot of essays, articles and poetry:-) My favorite poem this year is "The Type" by Sarah Kay.

B-Bullet Coffee, 1/3 cup granola

L-5% Fage with blueberries and pecans

S-Hot tea

D-Dutch Baby Pancake with almond flour

E-Hike with Emmy if fog lifts, otherwise a walk

Have a good Friday!

The sing along was super fun and I'm glad we got there early since there were, indeed, a ton of people.

We learned that there are definitely bad songs for sing alongs (it was only an hour long, so they couldn't do all the song) and that, if you're a professional singer leading a sing along, you can't add your personal style to the song - you must sing it exactly how it is on the CD people have been singing along with for the last four years. :D

I've crossed the Christmas finish line - decorated, wrapped, and cards ready to mail. Holiday meal planning for the family in process, with some changes for me so I can enjoy the traditions with them all. I am not sure at all how to adapt queso blanco -- and I may get a friend to help with the tamales....

Still fighting ethmoid sinusitis and see ENT next week (earliest I could get in).

QOTD: What was the best book you read in 2018? Tell us why you liked it the best. Oh lawsy. I am a compulsive reader, and always has been. Books have always been my drug of choice. So I average 1-2 books a day. Wide variety. I think maybe "Boundless Compassion", in a study group. About learning to extend compassion to oneself.

B: 1 sm scone, Chobani key lime greek yogurt

L: Hamburger patty (low fat) with dijon mustard

D: Protein shake

Hey all. It's sort of a gloomy day today. No sun, cold, misty. I think we are supposed to get some rain which I'm not looking forward too. This weekend I would like to see Christmas in the Park, which is a bunch of Christmas lights scenes. It is beautiful and since I haven't been in years it should be all new.

B- 2 eggs with Salsa

L- Half a deli shaved chicken breast sandwich with Greek yogurt cup

D- Salad with tuna

S- Half an apple, Almonds

Menu is boring while in my program I have noticed. Going for what's easiest for me to prepare.
