My doctor had us measure and track everything even liquids. If you added cream soups and not using low fat or non fat milk or water in it that adds a lot of calories! You do still need to measure. I'm about ten months out from sleeve and still measure everything. Plus check what is in the protein shake. If you add milk that adds calories too.

FWIW, at 7 months out I try to stick to 800 or less calories a day. Immediately post-op my surgeon had me at 400-600 a day.

If I may, without being indelicate, I'd like to point out tha****er retention is common among female patients, especially during their monthly cycle. The four pounds you gained back is likely your system adjusting to your new situation. Slow down, focus on what you're eating, not how much, and let your system adjust. Weigh yourself in another few weeks, and see if things haven't settled out. You're in this for the long haul - the rest of your life - not just for the first few weeks after surgery. Good luck!

I can't say if it's normal or not. But, I can relate. At 4 weeks post-op, I have very few restrictions. I'm shocked, actually. I can gulp water, and by eating many small meals, I'm getting my protein in (most days). I definitely know if I eat too much or too fast. It's a terrible feeling!! Sometimes I almost pass out. It's only happened 3 times, but that's 3 times too many!
