How long does it really take for you to finish a "meal"?

Am curious because...

I am only at the full fluids stage, and since yesterday have been able to drink much more and much faster than just after surgery.

My Dr.'s handouts say I should eat/drink my "meals" 30ml/1oz every 15 mins, up to a max of 1/2-3/4 cup over a 60-90 mins. However, I am able to drink (sipping and sometimes with regular swallows) 10oz/300ml a protien shake in less than 20 mins without feeling too full.

Outside of "meals", I easily reach my water goals by mid afternoon (which i think is great because I really struggled with this the first few days?)

Now, "meals" are in quotes becuase I am really only ingesting protein shakes at this time. I did have 1/4 a cup of tomato soup for first time today at lunch, which also went down quite quickly/easily)

soooo....how long does it take for the newbies and vets out there to eat thier "meals"?

Everyone is different. I had a similar experience to you in that I finished very quickly and did not have any trouble getting in my protein or water...still don't 4 years later!

Did you find this ease to continue when you went to pureed, or soft or regular solid food? Im wondering if this could just be a liquid diet thing?

Thankfully I never had any issue with liquids. Once I started solids, though, that's when my restriction kicked in.

I also didn't feel any restriction with liquids but felt lots of restriction when first eating solids. Now at 1.5 years out I eat at the same speed and about the same amount as the average normal weight person.

That is reassuring to hear.

While I?m glad the liquids are going down nicely, I was concerned the solids would too, once I started them.

(Also nice to know that it's possible I won't always have to be the last one eating :)

I had my VSG on Oct 29th, still sore, and unable to get more than a few ounces of shake down due to feeling nauseated, and that usually takes around 30 mins or longer to get that much down. I have been eating Frisch's vegetable soup and straining it to get the broth. Im still having cravings of things I shouldn't. (I hope this goes away).
