Looking to calm my nerves!
Hello. I'm new here and happy to have found this site. I have been reading the threads all night long. I'm inspired and thankful for the insightful posts! I am currently freaking out a bit, as I'm 30 HOURS away from my WLS. I'm so overwhelmed with emotions. Would love to hear all sorts of advice, and pep talks welcome!! :) I have so many odd health issues, I'm just so nervous about going under the knife again. Thanks, in advance all!
Freaking out is normal. You're about to undergo a major life change. Just remember why you're doing it.
You are amongst such wonderful people who are willing to share tips, experiences, advice and support to help you through this.
My only advice to you is to stay focused. Recognize your fears and worries but don't dwell on them. Just KNOW that it's going to work out great and soon you will be on the other side beginning your journey to a happier and healthier you.

Thank you very much. I am only 3 days out. Got home yesterday. I haven't experienced any gas pains. I walked. As soon as they told me I could. And as often as I could tolerate. Doing the breathing treatments. Sipping, sipping and sipping. I've been blessed and haven't really experienced any of the issues I have read about and dreaded yet.
The best thing I can tell you is listen to your doctor and nurses. They know what they're doing.

I had lots of odd health issues, primarily chronic ones. High BP, Type II diabetes, insulin resistance, sleep apnea, and beyond that, lots of issues from medication interactions and after 14 major surgeries, and 3 rounds of cancer and a brain tumor -- I truly wasn't sure about another surgery, elective.
I am SO glad I did! All the co morbidities are gone; I'm done with 13 of 17 meds, and only take 4 plus my vitamins.
I had a second surgery the same day due to minor complications and had 2 units of blood. Even with all that, I was able to be up and walking around that evening. I never needed more than a tylenol for discomfort (you know, the dr word for pain) and the worst pain was gas, which walking resolved quickly.
My only regret is that I waited til I was 65 to make use of a wonderful tool. I hit goal weight way more quickly than I thought, and then some below that.
I have lots of energy, sleep well (no CPAP) and my medical expenses are way down. All my post labs have been normal, and the bad ones have also normalized from before my surgery.
Its a wonderful tool! Best to you and welcome!

Me too! I am having VSG tomorrow morning and I am so nervous that I have been getting hives for the last week. For some reason this is scaring me more than any other previous surgery!
