Are there many VSGers that lost 50% of total body weight?
Current weight-135, BMI 21.8
Starting weight-345 BMI 56 something
210#s , so somewhere around 60%total loss, or 107% excess weight loss
The surgeon suggested I would loose down to maybe 175 or 180 and then have a bounce back up to 190 - 195 and hold there. He considered that to be a successful surgery. I had other thoughts. A sleeve surgery will work as well as you choose to use it.
Good luck with what ever surgery you think best, keeping in mind that they- every last type of WLS will work only as well as you use it well. Emphasis on You.

Starting weight was 485lbs with a bmi of 71 I think.
Current weight is 150 with a bmi of 19.6.
It is not easy, the trip to lose it all isn't easy and neither is the trials of keeping it lost, but it is 100% doable.

Thank you! You're just as amazing, we're all in this together!
I guess I should add my surgery day weight to the list. I weighed 475 day of surgery.
You go, girl! Anytime I see your stats, I am completely blown away. Outstanding.

With any of the surgeries you will get out of it what you put into it. I had VSG 3 years ago and I lost around 220 pounds. I have maintained, for almost 2 years and am at the exact right body fat percentage. I didn't like the idea of bypass due to having a history of IBS issues. I have lost way more weight than what I weigh now, I am less than half the woman I used to be! LOL :)
Had VSG on 9/28/15
Lost 161 lbs since surgery, LOST 221 lbs overall so far!!
That is amazing! Thanks so much for sharing. I need to lose about 150 so your story is a perfect motivator!
I've lost over 40% of my body weight, and I'm still on my journey. I've got 11lbs to go to reach a "normal" BMI. What we achieve is up to us, and maintaining it seems to be the greatest challenge. For me BMI is definitely not the most important thing as it's a flawed scale for sure. My goal is a healthy body with energy to move and fully experience life!

Wow we are SO close in starting stats! I am 5'8" highest weight 325, current weight 316, and we are close in age too. Looking at your monthly weight loss is super inspiring! I see your surgiversary is coming up, congratulations! And I will be stalking you as I want your level of success. I definitely agree BMI is flawed but it's an easy starting/reference point. Thanks for your response
That's really cool! VSG was 100% the right move for me. I have had some ups and downs, (especially recently!) but I feel pretty amazing. It took about 3 months post-op to start feeling really good and once I added strength training and returned to my yoga practice I was a new person!
I wish you luck, the pre-op time can be a bit stressful, so I'm glad you found this forum. It's definitely been a huge source of info and support for me and we'll be cheering you on!
