18 months Post-Op
Hi VSG'ers!
Long time no talk. Wanted to chime in and update you. I am 18 months post-op and life is great lost about 110lbs, I can eat any and everything now in moderation of course. Wanted to encourage you guys that this thing is a great tool if you use it right. I still have some problem areas which I can target those in the gym. Be encouraged and stay motivated and keep fit!
I am currently at a plateau of 225 from 337. I want to stop snacking, and eat better. I will not go back, no I won't. Let me know if and how I can help with your journey. Thanks!
Sadly it's impossible to target weight loss.
What steps are you taking to curb the snacking and to help you refocus your food choices?

NOthing I just snack as I wish. Not good, I use the excuse that I work out everyday so I should be okay. But I'm not. Any ideas?
If you're not already, you might consider seeing a therapist to work on the snacking.
Figuring out why you're snacking - what your triggers are that cause you to snack, would probably be a good starting place. It might also be helpful to not keep foods that you like to snack on in the house so that it takes effort to buy them when you want to snack.

Just a warning: this is a really dangerous mindset to get into. "Moderation" is what got many of us to becoming super morbidly obese.
It's important to watch your intake and maintain a high-protein, lower-carb diet free of junk food even in maintenance.
Just to chime in on what others have said....18-27 months was a really hard time for me personally because I did the same things you're saying you're doing. It cost me a regain of almost 25 pounds (about 25% of what I had lost). It is not the time to slack off...there is never going to be a time to slack off. Unless you stay focused, it is very easy to fall back into old habits. On the up side...focus (and all the things that Gwen suggests) really helps! It took almost a year, but the 25 pounds came off and now I maintain within a 2-3 pound range of where I want to be and have for over a year. Best of luck to you!

I had VSG only 1 month after you, and I also can eat anything and everything and could easily snack all day. It's really important not to do those things though to maintain your new weight! I lost 100 lbs then regained because of snacking and feeling so great. I've lost 6 lbs of that and am slowly on my way back down, but I know that I have to be super vigilant with food forever. That regain can happen very quickly and very easily!
