Clarification About Greek Yogurt Please

Hi guys. First off thanks to you guys for your help regarding fluids. I'm getting more water in these days. Some hunger has returned. The scale still moves like a snail but at least I seem to be losing inches. My question is, are you guys counting Greek yogurt volume into your daily fluid totals? I know it liquifies pretty quickly. Also, I recall years ago there was a controversy about the carbs in yogurt and whether they should count or whether they were consumed by the yogurt cultures. Does anyone know? I'm referring to the plain Greek yogurt. Thanks in advance.

I don't believe carbs are consumed by anything but our asses. :). In the way that protein doesn't disappear when it is cooked.

The carbs count. And unless you're turning the yogurt into a smoothie or shake, it is not a liquid, and doesn't count toward your fluid totals.

I'm glad that your fluids are better. I also found it really hard to make my fluid goals in the first few weeks after surgery.

There are only 4 to 5 grams of carbs in 1/2 cup of greek yogurt. Its low enough that I've never worried about it. Its a good, satisfying food.

In terms of liquids, I never counted it as part of my liquids.

best wishes,

Carol

Liquids are only things you can drink through a straw. :)

And all carbs are carbs.
