Post-Op
I could eat as much at one setting as anyone else. That does not mean that I get to do that. I use a saucer instead of a dinner plate. I eat slowly and don't drink for 30 minutes after.
For a woman, calories are roughly ten calories per day per pound. To maintain at 100 pounds, eat 1000 calories a day. To maintain 150 pounds, eat 1500 calories a day. You find what works for you by tracking your food and weighing yourself daily.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
It can truly vary from person to person. I will be 3 years out next month and for me I eat an average of about 1200 calories per day and I have maintained my weight loss. I do have some days higher and some days lower then that calorie number though. At one sitting I still only eat maybe a cup worth of food total. I still don't drink more than a sip of water if need be during my meals.
Had VSG on 9/28/15
Lost 161 lbs since surgery, LOST 221 lbs overall so far!!
I measure my meals to be 4-6 ounces by weight. On days I track my calories I'm in the 800-1200 range.

I'm just a few months behind you. I can eat about 6 ounces of meat for a meal. If I'm at a restaurant, I can eat about 3/4 of a burger (plain), and maybe 4 or 5 fries.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

I forgot to add that I maintain on 2400 to 2600 calories. But I'm also male, 6'3", and about 210. So comparing me to most other people here doesn't help much.

as others have said, it varies a lot depending on a lot of factors. I maintain as long as I stay in the 1500-1700 range. Too many days over 1700, and my weight starts to head north. You may have to experiment to see what your ideal range is. A lot of women on here have to eat less than I do to maintain.
I will be 4 years post op in Dec and struggling to get back on track bc I'm eating too much and not moving. This week I joined a gym and started yoga. Now, my goal is to get my food under control to the 1,000-1,300 range. I'm trying to take it 1 step at a time and utilize my old habits that helped me in the past. Everyone is so different; I love that you asked this question bc I'm trying to find my answer too:). Thank you for that!
