I wanted to get out the house spend time with my daughter and go shopping. I have my powerade zero still sipping every 15 min. I feel air bubbles, nausea it seams like a frog is in my throat having hiccups so afraid. I don't want to go home. I'm hopping I'm not over doing it. Any advice really would help me thanks! I'm 6 days post op I should be able to the department store

Maybe the shape of the bottle or bottle opening is introducing extra air into your sleeve. Or sometimes just weird, inexplained stuff happens because we are healing from an extreme surgery. At 6 days, you definitely might be over doing it (that's a personal, subjective metric). Maybe try slowing down a bit. Your body has been through a lot of changes. You don't need to be rushing right now.

You're six days out from major surgery - take it easy. You might have better success drinking with a straw, it sounds like you're taking in too much air right now.

Most plans say NOT to drink from a straw because you take on air, however I have always done better with a straw. I don't know who these mouth breathers are that can't drink from a straw without sucking in air, but seriously straws are so much better at least for me personally.

Thanks I'm going to try straws I'm not going out driving for a few days. I have to remember I had major surgery this is no comparison to my other surgeries. I can't believe getting out the house had a big effect on me.

Isn't Powerade Zero carbonated? Not that you will never be able to have carbonation but it can be painful. I second the straw. Always helped me.

I don't think it is. It's more like gatorade, I think.

Powerade zero is none carbonated it's like vitiman water. I'm using straws for now on.

Not sure BUT first off my surgical team highly recommends Powerade Zero so no bad there.

I don't think you are over-doing things, but maybe for you? I mean I went shopping the day I got out of the hospital and have used shopping or stores/malls as my 30-minute walking places almost daily since then, they have AC and it is too hot/humid where I live to try outside. Just remember to stop and sit down for a few minutes if you start feeling bad.

OK, so now the hiccups I start to hiccup or kind of burp rapidly like I'm hiccupping when I get full with upset tummy too and yes if I'm drinking a bit too much I will get the same effect as with food. I would try the straw and slow down your sips.

Same advice here on the straws - everything says don't use them... and I was super diligent not using them until I realized i had used one almost daily with my iced coffee and didn't realize it. lol ... for me, nausea was a result of pain meds. I feel better without them. Not sure if you are still on them or not.
