i am pre-op VSG. I now take Citrucel in water for constipation, but I'm pretty sure i wont be able to do that post-op, since you can't drink that stuff slowly or it expands in the glass (yuck). Does anyone here take fiber supplements that they can tolerate well? Which ones?

I've used Benefiber before to good effect. Now I take a daily probiotic that seems to do the trick. You might want to check with your surgeon as to what they recommend for the first few weeks post-op. A lot of them recommend Miralax. You'll be on liquid stages for the first couple of weeks post-op, but you'll still be generating solid waste, so make sure you have a good plan for keeping things moving along. I didn't and I ended up with an impaction issue and it was by far the worst thing about the whole surgical process.

I use 2T of Benefiber in my morning breakfast shake. I recommend asking your surgeon for advice about what you should/can use immediately post-op.

My surgeon said what to use and how often, so two stool softeners a day and Miralax every other day. I highly recommend you ask your surgical team.

Oh, I know what you are talking about. I can't imagine how you've been taking Citrucel all this time. I can't tolerate it. It's so disgusting for me. I prefer to use organic products instead, as they are safer and healthier. Anyway, a friend of mine recommended to try the lion's mane mushroom. You know, it's a very good source of fiber. It's presented in form of powder, thus I find it very easy and comfortable to administer. I take it twice a day, and I can tell you that it's just perfect for me.
