Hi everyone, I'm feeling so much better today 4 day post op. I got on the scale maybe I shouldn't did it but the whole purpose of VSG is to lose weight. I was shocked to see 1 and 4 oz gone. Before surgery I was losing from 3 or more pounds a day. I'm taking in way less calories. I guess I will lose 2lbs a week. Not happy at all

After surgery the body is going through a lot and typically holds fluids. Just stick to your recovery instructions, rest, hydrate, and walk and you will see results. I'd recommend you wait another week to weigh yourself again. I'm certain you will see a more dramatic loss by that point.

Nope I don't think so. I had the EXACT same thing and then all of a sudden it came off at 2-3lbs a day for a couple of weeks. Then it finally slowed down. My body started to change shape and kinda catch up then started loosing again. From May 22nd to today I just hit 39.6lbs gone. Don't worry....it will work!!! Also, remember that everyone is different. Be positive and remember you are losing so doesn't matter how fast.

Flashback! Look in my post history or many others' and you'll see almost an identical post :)

As one who was recently where you are: Stahhhp! (I say this as a friend lol). You are full of IV fluids. Your body is adjusting. If you follow your guidelines, faster weight loss will start soon. I promise!

Your body is reacting to the trauma of surgery, plus you're full of iv fluids and gas.

My weight stayed the same for a few days after surgery, then it starting dropping. I lost lbs every day for a couple of weeks. Then I stalled. For the last week, my weight goes down 2 pounds, then up a pound, then stalls, then down .5 pound, then up 2 pounds...it's frustrating the heck out of me! lol

I think I'm going to stop weighing myself everyday and just weight myself once a week instead, at least for the next little while. If scale fluctuation are going to drive you crazy, you might want to do that too.

Another trick is taking your measurements with a tape measure, or trying on clothes, to measure your progress. But since you're only a few days post-surgery, you might not want to do that yet, since you're still recuperating and still getting all the fluid retention and gas out.

Stay off the scale - only weigh yourself once a week during weight loss - you will make yourself crazy.

I got on the scale a day or two after surgery...and I was up 10 lbs!

I got on again after a couple more days...I was STILL up 3.5 lbs. Yeah, sometimes it takes me more than once to learn my lesson. LOL

I put my scale away so it's out of easy reach and I'm only weighing in at post-surgery check-ups. I feel SO much more freedom and so much less stress. I'm just going by how my clothes fit (or don't). Today I'm kind of bummed because my favorite cowl neck tank tops are all too big. They hit me partway down my thighs. And my favorite pants are now too big but the next size down constrict my breathing.

But actually, this is a problem I really don't mind that much!

My advice to you would be to stay off the scale. Have someone hide it! Then just enjoy the journey and watching your clothes get baggy.
