Yes, since protein is necessary to help you heal. It's important to reach your goals of 64+ ounces of fluids and 60+ grams of protein - shakes count as liquids too.

I made it my job to get in at least 40 grams of protein before noon each day because that helped me to ensure I'd reach my protein goal.

Right now, you can't trust what your body is telling you about hunger anyway, so waiting for that cue to drink a shake would be unwise.

Glad your surgery went well! Yes, even if you don't feel hungry you still have to get those protein shakes in. It's like a job for the next few weeks.

I had a hard time drinking fluids the first couple of days out of hospital, because my belly was very bloated and swollen and I felt very full, like if you stuck me with a pin I would pop. But I forced myself to drink. Actually I found sugar free freezies to be a godsend during that time because they were easier to get down.

After a couple of days I finally started peeing like crazy, and the bloating resolved. I think if I hadn't forced myself to get in those fluids, the bloating might have lasted longer.

yes, there is a possibility that you will never feel hunger again.

If you don't eat on a schedule, every 2-4 hours, you can starve to death.

Lack of hunger can be part of the vsg.

i am 8 years out and no longer feel hunger, I eat by the clock every 2-4 hours.
