Hey, Liz! Wow, it really sounds like you have a fun, active life. I still get sad about Summer winding down. Even though it's very busy, the schedule with a kids is lighter and we all get to sleep in a little bit more. The days are a bit more lazy and all that.

QOTD: Hmm. I had a very close friend who went through it before me and she was a great source of support and taught me so much about what to expect. Early in my decision, my mom was skeptical (she said I just needed a breast reduction. Ah, moms!). But when I explained my reasoning, she came around (I also suspect that my friend talked to her a bit). So she ended up super supportive, as was the rest of my family. I have a great family. It helps. I think my nutritionist gave good, written instructions and has been very available on the phone for additional questions. Because she was able to tell me how much would "fit" in my pouch, I was able to avoid over-filling. Except one time..good gawd..one time I mindlessly started to eat a second egg bite when I wasn't still hungry and it was such a horrible feeling, like getting punched in the lung for 45 minutes. Never again!

B - Isopure shake with 12oz Fairlife Skim and coffee

S - Ham and cheese slices

L - Skyr

D - Not sure. Maybe I'll whip up some chicken and lentils

Yeah, that OMG I shouldn't have had that bite feeling is awful. I only got it a few times, twice in the early months and once about 18 months out and it was no fun!

I'd heard it was bad, but had no idea how severe it could be. I saw a woman here post that she's eaten too much and was wondering if she should induce vomiting. I remember thinking "yikes, that seems a bit extreme--just take a walk!". Now I understand why she was going there--she was in miserable pain and discomfort. Btw, inducing vomiting is nothing I'd condone (unhealthy on so many levels). I'm just saying that I now understand her desperation.

I agree, the winding down of summer is so sad! Fall is nice, and I like rainy seasons, however that is just a step away from the cold of winter. Winters are so miserable for me now. I have to have a jacket int he super market even in the summer, so I can't imagine the winter! My grandmother and I are contemplating moving, actually, to AZ. Both her and I cannot stand the cold.

QOTD: How I should be eating as a whole as far as, what's too much protein, too much carbs, too much fat, too little protein, etc etc etc. I worry/worried so much that at times it drives me mad. Some things have calmed down and I am finding what works for me rather than what works for everyone else. Extremely low carb stopped working for me, but I worried so much about going carb crazy and gaining weight that every increase in carbs made me feel guilty. As I have relaxed and allow those carbs, I feel so much better physically.

I appreciate your posts like this. It's a good reminder that this is a lifelong journey of figuring this all out.

It's great that you are finding what works for you. I do think we all have to do that (it isn't one size fits all).

Hi All

Well, this elevator ride I'm on with my Liver is not so fun. Got a call from my specialists PA and she said they got the results from my liver ultrasound and it is "much worse" than they expected. So, now I need to go have some blood work done and if that is what they expect I have a 3D CT/CAT of my liver scheduled for later in the week. They had wanted me to have an MRI of the liver but I cannot have MRI's so, this is the next step I guess unless the blood work isn't so good then not sure? Most likely a liver biopsy... When I found this liver issue out after my VSG I was kind of sad, then when I saw the specialist I had lots of good hope but today I'll be honest this tough old lady cried, then dusted off and stood tall I will accept what I have to accept.

QOTD: What did you have the most questions about and/or need the most support for either before or after WLS (related to WLS)? Well Liz for me it has been about the same as you, understanding what and how much to eat as I hit new food levels. I just listen to my VSG team, read up on here and I follow a few youtubes one thing I am very good at is seeing what makes no sense and researching.

Good luck with the liver tests. Sometimes I think doctors make things sound worse than they are and hopefully that is the case in your situation.

Thank you Liz, this one took me down emotionally. First the VSG surgeon makes me think it is bad, then the Liver doc makes it all not bad at all and then BAM the liver doc's PA makes it sound horrible again...just really knocked me off my feet. I'm OK now, worried but there is nothing I can do but wait and follow directions and pray and hold onto the belief that I have had for many years through many horrible events, I am in God's hand and he will either land me softly or take me home, either is a win-win!
