Weight gain a month after surgery.

I am seriously perplexed. I can't eat. Drinking is difficult. I can only poop if I drink Milk of Mag & I am gaining weight. I don't do carbs or sugars & usually only drink water. From time to time I will do a sugar free drink. So why am I gaining weight? I had surgery 6/7/18. I went from 410lbs to 372lbs now I am at 378lbs. What is going on?.

Previously I posted that I started my journey at 478lbs (2/18/18). I lost 68 lbs 3 months on my own to be approved for the surgery.

Prior to that my highest weight was 672lbs... Or around that amount... I lost 200 lbs on my own. My body is use to losing.... So why the heck am I gaining. #disappointed.

You say you can't eat, what does that mean? Are you getting absolutely no food in, or are you unable to eat what you think you should be able to eat? Do you eat soft foods, or are you strictly on protein drinks? It is possible to gain weight even if all you can have is soft food and protein drinks, it is all about calories. Are you logging your calories?

I stick to protein shakes usually. I can't stomach chicken or tuna (it comes up). I try to eat a piece of turkey lunch meat & a slice of cheddar cheese. It leaves me uncomfortably full for hours. I drink water. I do eat cucumbers (4 slices) & then I am full. I just don't eat much so I attempt to eat via protein shakes.

Yes I am logging. I usually get 300 to 500 calories.

First- congratulations on the great weight loss. You lost 200lbs on your own! Wow.

Second - sometimes people who have had significant weight loss presurgery don't have that same big drop. We all have stalls and fluctuations happen. If you are doing what you are supposed to do- stay the course. It will happen.

Thank you. I am not worried about the quick weight loss but the gain is bothersome.

Just about 300 pounds- wow. Just throwing some thoughts out. So much weight lost. Is it possible that your body is just taking a serious adjustment break before resuming weight loss?

It's hard for me to imagine legitimate weight gain on 500 calories a day. If the gain is over just these recent days, and you are recently uncomfortable eating and drinking, is it possible, even with the MOM, that your intestines are collecting and retaining waste?

If you are not sufficiently hydrating, that in addition to compounding a constipation problem, can cause severe dehydration. You may want to get this checked out by a health care professional who can help figure out and remedy what is wrong. Being as uncomfortable as you must be feeling now cannot be pleasant. Hoping for a good outcome for you.
