Just curious...I am 10 days post op on full liquids(soups,cream of wheat)and haven't lost anything since Friday when I started. Only consuming 400 calories a day ..getting plenty of fluid (either water or protein shakes). I have guilt when I eat anything and fear I won't lose anything...help and advice welcomes but please be kind...

Stalls happen! Don't worry, keep getting in your protein, keep walking, and keep your water going. Stalls happen for many reasons and sometimes we can't figure them out. Don't get discouraged. The body just went through a BIG change!!

Oh, man. Please let go of that guilt and worry. I didn?t lose for about a week post-op. just a few weeks ago, I felt like you do now?it?s all fresh in my mind. A close friend had had the surgery and she immediately started losing an lb a day. It made me feel broken, discouragesd, and as if I?d made a hideous decision (cut up a healthy organ only to not lose weight?). I had to stop comparing. Our bodies are all very different. We are also going through some hormonal extremes, plus healing, plus having to bid adieu to a lot of things we used to lean on.

The fluids they gave you will start to leave your body, you're going to heal up, weight will start coming off. Follow your instructions and it?s gonna start, I promise. I myself and a slower loser than many. I understand how it messes with ones head. Feel free to PM me any time.

Most people gain weight due to all the fluids pumped into the body during surgery, and it can take a while to loose those fluids and then to start losing weight. So don't worry about not losing anything.

How much fluid are you actually getting each day? (A lot of people will say they're "getting plenty" and it turns out they're not getting anywhere near enough.) What is "plenty" in your case?

As for the guilt and fear - if you're not already seeing a therapist, I highly recommend adding one to your team. Fixing all the brain stuff is hard work and it's good to have professional help.

I get about 50-64 ounces but increasing everyday. Pre-surgery I drank 100 ounces a day of water but each 32 was within an hour thatnis the struggle now slow and steady. I have loss since surgery I think I mis-spoke. I have actually lost 8.2 week one but just jthing in 3 days. And yes a see a therapist who I will be following up With next week just a lot going on immediate Post op. I am afraid if I eat anything I won't lose which is absolutely insane and I know it just need to see it!!

50-64 definitely isn't "plenty." I'd say it's "not quite meeting the minimum." It can definitely be challenging, but it's your number one job.

Try to remember that your weight probably didn't increase in a steady, daily manner - but you probably weren't weighing yourself every day to notice. :) It won't come off in a steady, consistent manner either.

If that bothers you, I highly recommend using something like Trendweight.com to allow yourself to focus on your trending weight instead of the day to day fluctuations (or lack thereof)!

I will look into it..and increase my water intake. Sadly I did weigh myself everyday prior to surgery sometimes 3xs a day. I know I know I know not good,healthy or sane. I'm working on it. I think I will start today only weighing once a every 3 days then once a week...hard habit to break

I have the same exact problem so your not alone. I make my bf hide the scale so that i can't do it and now I only weigh myself once a week. That has really helped!

Height = 5'2 Age = 37 Surgery Date = August 13, 2012 HW = 231lbs LW = 131lbs

Regain SW = 209.6 CW = 191.2 Goal Weight = 157.6 lbs

The only way you will see results is if you stay consistent!

I have a very unhealthy relationship with the scale as well. It has far too much power over me, can either make or break my day - sometimes my week!

I had my husband hide it. I did have him get it out once, and wasn't thrilled (WHAT? I didn't lose 40 lbs???) so I had him hide it again. That was a couple weeks ago...I'll weigh when I go in for my one-month check up on Wednesday. After that, I MAY have him give it to me once a week, or once every other week, but I just can't deal with it taunting me every day.

Once I reach maintenance I'll put it back in its cozy little corner and get on it every day, just to keep myself in check.

So, pre-op, I did weigh myself every day. It actually wasn't negative for me. If the number wasn't a good one, it would help me set an intention for the day to focus on my food choices and movement.

Post-op, I'm not sure if I should weigh every day like I do. After all, my intention is set. I know that I'm making good choices at every meal and that I'm trying to exercise every day. If I'm doing that, I'm not sure what a daily peek at the scale helps me with. Hmm. Anyway, it's something I need to give more though to.
