Whatcha Eating Today VSGers? Sunday, 6/24/18
on 6/24/18 4:10 am, edited 6/24/18 4:16 am
Good morning menu crew! It?s just hitting 6 am and the sun is coming up. I am in another one on one. Seems to be the normal lately, but this room has a great view of the city and of the helipad where I watched it take off and land several times through the night. I feel sorry for the nurses working since they are having to do everything. All techs in the whole hospital are pulled off the floor to do these 1:1 observations. So nurses have to do all their work plus what we normally do.
My biggest complaint other than boredom is that my body gets so tense and my legs swell sitting here. I get up once an hour to stretch, and I do walks around the hospital on breaks to try and help. I will be returning to the gym this week, I am fully settled into my schedule. Nights are honestly so much easier on me. I prefer them over days.
QOTD: Do you like lazy Sundays What do you like to do to relax on your days off?
I love lazy days off to a point. When I want to relax I will make a cup of hot tea or coffee and paint or color.
I lose track of which meals I have posted lol. Here is my meals for tonight/tomorrow morning
Breakfast-Chicken sausage, egg whites, skim cheese and English muffin
Lunch- Protein shake
Dinner- Chili I cooked yesterday
Snacks- Oikos triple zero with strawberries, turkey jerky
Totals- 931 calories, 68g carbs, 113g protein
Morning
Although on my side of the world it's almost bed time.
I would say a sleep in and if I'm lucky breakfast out somewhere local. Then the rest of the day at home just pottering about catching up on laundry and other housekeeping. I find that really relaxing lol.
Breakfast: Chobani yoghurt
Lunch: fish fillet
Dinner: Cauliflower and Cheese soup
Good morning! Will you be able to study during the 1:1's once you start school? If so, that will probably help both your boredom and getting homework done!
We are back home from Aruba and exhausted. I didn't have much sleep last night as I somehow lost my watch and some bracelets in packing and looked for them and obsessed over them until 3:30 am.
Justice was overjoyed to see us. When he heard us come in he raised a huge racket in his crate and was licking us from head to toe! He is now comfortably ensconced on my lap as I type this.
Today is laundry and putting away clothes (as well as straightening the house) day. I don't get how it can get so cluttered by one son in the two weeks we were gone?
QOTD: To realax on a lazy day, I will go to the beach in summer (the pool in Florida). If the weather isn't good, I'll read and watch TV (recorded stuff).
For the next 2 days, to reduce carb cravings, I'm going to try doing 100% AMAW (all meat all week) which I have never done before (I have always done CAMAW), then do CAMAW (critters and meat all week which means that dairy can be included) for several days. We will see how it goes...
2 Years, 3 months post-op (maintaining at goal for 19 months)
Always lots of coffee...
B: Canadian bacon
L: Deli turkey
D: Shrimp
S: Meat sticks, pork rinds

Good luck on AMAW! Do you think your cravings are stronger after having been on vacation?
Definitely because I did indulge, which I feel okay about because I had already planned to go back on plan upon my return.

QOTD: Sundays are deadline days for me for classes, so they're never lazy for me unless I'm sick or something. And, sadly, online students don't have days off. This is one of those things I'm looking forward to with a job - actual days where I don't need to do the thing I do the rest of the week. Not having homework. :)
But, honestly, I've found that I'm someone who prefers to be doing things. I think my brain woke up one day and decided, "Hey, you've spent enough of your life being sedentary. From now on it's time to DO ALL THE THINGS." :D
1: protein shake
2: I dunno, maybe another protein shake. I'm not normally a "1 solid meal a day" person, but I'm not feeling super enthusiastic about food right now. It might be because Invisalign is making my teeth ache which makes chewing sort of suck.
3: Chicken with Asparagus, roasted potatoes for the guys (This week's cookbook was titled "Chicken." So it's been a chickeny week!)
liquid and vites: on track
exercise: nothing formal due to the leg vein closure, but I plan on moving around a lot

Do people have jobs that they don't have to do things every day of the week? Maybe if you work in food service or retail? In the 15 years, I've been in IT that has not been the case.

Haha. Most people I know who aren't teachers don't work over the weekend. Art and Lance are both in IT and maybe work 30 minutes tops throughout the weekend. My mom, an office manager, never does work on the weekends. Neither did my dad, actually. He was a rocket scientist.
But there are definitely jobs that require you to be on call on weekends, so it all depends. Depending on my specific job in the future I'll either be on call all the time or have regular hours. But... I think I'd rather be on call than have homework :D

I'm not 'on call' so much as always on. My current position, I have people reporting to me that work from 7am - 10pm every day but Saturday. I get emails/issues that come up pretty much anytime during those hours. At my last job, I had people reporting to me that did AV for events that happened pretty much any day of the week/time of day. The job before that was a 24/7/365 Contact Center so I also was 'always on'.

What are one to ones?
If you're not already, I HIGHLY recommend that you wear compression socks. If the swelling is mainly in your ankles/lower legs, then knee highs are probably fine. But you might find that knee highs dig into your knees or keep the swelling in your leg above the knee. In which case, thigh highs or stockings might be better. This will help with blood flow. You might also want to work on pumping your feet (flexion/extension) while sitting to help the mechanical pumping.
