2 days to go and I'm nervous.

lying in bed reading through posts of upcoming and recent VSG surgeries. What seemed so right for me last week is now scaring me. I thought I was prepared. I have my isopure, prepped my protein jello and broths for week one. Now I feel overwhelmed and not prepared enough.

Maybe I didn't research enough. I thought I did. I figured I would be emotional and would regret it afterwords but not now.

I have a Disney trip planned for 8 weeks post op. The thought that I may be a miserable witch is really getting to me.

Is this normal? I need to be a healthier me.

Totally normal. I was second guessing myself right up to being wheeled in the theatre. Best thing I have ever done. My only regret is not acting on it when it was first recommended 4 years ago.

It isn't easy ( but then again not that hard ) for the few weeks after. Just remeber everyday it gets a little better.

It's totally normal to feel super nervous before surgery. So you're not alone.

I went to NYC at 5 weeks post-op and it was fine. I think I would have been fine with Disney at 8 weeks post-op, but definitely would have needed to plan to ensure that I had good food options for my new way of eating. And hydration. ALL THE HYDRATION.

I think if you would not be scared - that would be .. weird.

I get scared about any surgery. I had a "simple" hernia's surgery and I was freaking out. My medical team probably noticed that because from the moment I was talking to my surgeon to when I woke up after surgery - I do not remember a thing. Most likely they gave me something before they took me to the operating room. I think they were very smart. lol.

One thing about Disney (World) as you come in you can rent a locker, it's pretty near most of the food AND near the entrance/exit. I think they have two sizes? So, you can pack a lunch bag with some ice and put some foods you are feeling safe to eat in it and the easily go to the locker and get your snack/meal out as you need to, I found it great for locking up my purse and stuff too.

You wouldn't be normal if you weren't scared. I was in the pre-op room ready to go to surgery and asked my husband and daughter if I was making a terrible mistake.

I'm very happy with my decision and I'm sure you will be too.

Hoping you have a smooth and uneventful recovery and in 8 weeks you are going to ROCK Disney!

I don't think your Disney trip will be ruined. You going to the Land or the World? Disneyland has healthy option meals. If you have reservations anywhere, call ahead and let them know your needs---I've heard they can be very accommodating. Keep a couple of ready to go protein drinks on hand in case you have trouble finding something.

Most of us are scared just before surgery (though not all). And most of us are thrilled that we did it once we are enough post-op. I was nervous, but happy from the moment I woke up.
