12 days away...I'm excited and nervous!

I've been reading these forums everyday for months now, but this is the first time I'm posting on here. After 6 months (insurance requirement) I'm finally scheduled for my surgery. I'm currently on the 2 week liquid diet, and its rough but I'm trying to just take it one day at a time. I'm nervous about surgery...and I know you all say not to worry but I can't help it. I know it will all be okay, but my nerves still get the better of me sometimes.

My question for all of you is....what did you find that you needed/wanted while at the hospital??

Thank you all for any help. These forums have been so positive for me through this whole process!!

The things I was happy to have were my own pillow (for the bed and car), my iPhone and my iPad, toothbrush, hairbrush and change of underwear. I used the hospital gowns and slippers. I wore the same clothes to the hospital and home (very stretchy soft waisted pants).

Thanks Liz! I was wondering about what to wear home, after all my middle will be a bit tender lol

I got my sleeve on Tuesday. For what to wear, these lounge pants from the Disney store are a miracle. Super soft, lightweight, cuffed so they don?t drag or trip you up. At 5?5? 250, I got the XXL. Soon they might be too big, but loving them for now. I don?t know if you?re a Disney person, but they also have different characters.

It's so normal to be nervous! I was really glad to have biotene moisturizing mouth rinse! I also brought a pair of very loose soft pajama bottoms to walk the halls in as you'll be doing a lot of that at the hospital. Hairbrush, toothbrush, and I also brought a little face wash and lotion just because it made me feel better. I went home in a maxi dress. Wishing you luck on your pre-op and surgery!

Even though you've been lurking - welcome to posting!

For me, I worked on keeping as busy and distracted as possible during this time period. Then my cat had a health crisis so that "helped" to distract me. I don't recommend that part of the equation ;)

I wore a really loose dress to the hospital plus panties and a bra.

I packed a clean pair of panties, my kindle, my phone, cables for both, an external battery pack if I couldn't reach the wall socket with my cable, chapstick, and a pillow (which stayed in the car and was for the ride home).

I used... my phone, the cable, the chapstick. On the ride home I wore the dress and clean panties, no bra. I used the pillow in the car.

My hospital stay was just one night and I was pretty doped up for that time, or walking, so I didn't really have a lot of time to "do" anything except futz with my phone!
