Welcome Melody! I'm a Melody too!

my journey to get surgery was long and hard fought. I know you can and will succeed at this. It's hard but well worth it.

Ask questions whenever you have one, this community is very open about all aspects of this journey!

My goal weight is 175 and i'm 6'2"...the doctor himself was ok with that. I think you have the right attitude, i'd Ask your surgeon if that is a good goal.

Well first off congrats!! Glad you are moving forward with surgery.

That's weird at 5'6" they say 150 is too low. I'm 5'5" is and my weight range is suppose to be around 129-150. Unless there is a valid medical concern that wouldn't make sense.

Sometimes even medical people insert their own opinions. It seems likely that they want you to remain realistic. Statics say that VSG patients only lose 50-70 % of their excess body weight, however many have lost 100%. Keep the faith and if that is what your goal is, don't be discouraged by an opinion.

My RN on my surgical team asked me what my goal was. When I said 150, she said, "we don't want you to look like a crackhead now". Again, opinion, and irrelevant.

I did bump my goal up to 175. Just because as I slim down I realize I like curves, and wouldn't mind being a little curvier, but that is my choice.

Wishing you the very best outcome in regards to your upcoming surgery.

Hi I'm new! My weight loss has gone down. Would you kindly tell me how to change my current weight. I tried in the settings but it was grey and wouldn't let me change it.

Sure are you trying to create a weightloss ticker like mine?

I have the ticker but lost weight and want to change my current weight.

I'm 5'3" and weigh 115-118 which is within the normal BMI for my height. My surgeons office considers me to have lost 129% of my excess weight. They had set their goal at 145, which is the top of normal BMI. My personal goal was 125 because I was that thin twice (for about a day) and it seemed like a good number. I unexpectedly dropped lower and ended up being happy with this weight (as is my surgeon).

In other words, your personal goal can be different than the surgeons goal. But pick something realistic and realize that you may end up adjusting it (up or down) depending on how you look and feel.
