Whatcha Eating Today VSGers? Thursday, May 17, 2018
Welcome to Thursday! The end of the week is in sight for those of you anticipating it. In retirement they actually are a bit of time off from running around to events and appointments. I thought they would feel the same, but not really (at least not yet).
QOTD: Okay, I'm stealing from the RNY thread today with a slight revision (sorry JB if you are reading this). Reverse time to 10 years ago (2008). What was your life like at that point? My 2 younger children were in school - DS was just finishing his junior year in high school and DD had finished her sophomore year in college. Both were seemingly doing well. My mother lived near us and needed help going to appointments etc, but we had a good relationship (not so for most of my adult life as she was an alcoholic, but in recovery by 2008). I was missing eldest DD terribly as it was only 3 years after her death. Oh, and I was a contractor and not employed by the company I ultimately joined later and retired from. DH was functioning well as a lawyer. It was a couple of years later before his Alzheimer's started affecting his work. And I of course was MO, and I think starting another diet (well I was always dieting or regaining in the years before WLS).

Morning! I saw my brother off at 3am this morning and went back to bed. So, it was pretty hard getting back up at 5am. I have a lot of meetings today and it's time to de-carb after a 'vacation' day. I hope the meetings will make that easier. Today will probably contain excessive amounts of coffee!
QOTD: 10 years ago I would have just turned 25. That means we had just bought our first house and we had a 2-year old. I would have been married just shy of 1 year. The main differences from now would be that I was highly anxious all the time due to managing life with a 2-year old and a very stressful corporate full-time job. I was, of course, MO and not very active outside of daily life responsibilities.

Good morning Liz and VSG Crew. Went for a short 2 1/4 mile run and was pleased with my first mile, 9:40 and finished with a 10:09 pace. ( wind was in my chest on the way back). I jumped in the hot tub once I cooled down and then did some yard work, we will plant our flowers and garden over the memorial day weekend holiday , that is the perfect time for this area. Have a great day!

Nice run! I envy you. I think I could run again (I loved it when young), but I'm afraid of damaging my knees or something else at my age. I don't want to have to replace any joints, so it is walking and yoga for me these days.

Good morning all! Am a little over worried this morning, the scale and I are going to have a fight. Either I read it wrong yesterday, or I'm actually up 6oz from yesterday morning. Logically, I know it's normal fluctuations, but it's annoying when it was a steady drop for 2 weeks and then up. My mind tries to chastise me saying "You didn't go to the gym yesterday, this is why!" Or "You ate 30 more calories than usual, take your whoopin' and like it." The urge to drop my day 100 calories or more is strong, but I'm fighting it. It's not healthy to panic and just eat less because I am worried over 6 oz. It's a scary thought. I know I was so SMO, I don't want to get on a path of a different kind of eating disorder! If my brain would calm down and let me have some peace, that would be great.
QOTD: In 2008 I had just graduated high school and started college. My depression right after high school went into a full rage and I really lost my way early on. The activity of running up and down the stairs was gone, no more gym class, etc and me eating went into a full on tailspin to pad my emotions. Broke all contact off with my very best friends from high school and pretty much shut myself away to gain 100 pounds.
E: Strength then HIIT cardio at the gym on the treadmill. I can only last like 15 minutes before death threatens to take me.
Moderation-moderation--beware knee jerk reactions. .6 on a scale on any given day equals, well, equals exactly squat. Change trending over time? Well, that's a whole different thing. From what I've noticed about your trending makes you a Rock-star (in my opinion). Carry on!

Thank you! I know somewhere that 6 oz isn't anything to panic over. That knee-jerk reaction is so hard to fight!
It does take time to get used to the fluctuations and I still freak out at times especially when it is more than a pound and I think I've been on plan for eating.

I think/hope you are in a much better place than 10 years ago? I go up and down daily with 6 oz being a minor amount. Lack of bathroom success, extra sodium, extra carbs or just because will do it. Especially after a few days of loss.
