Acid / Vomiting HELP!
Hello all. I just have my VGS done 5/8. Originally had the band which didn't work out so waited a few years and ebded up doing the sleeve. I didn't do much research because i didn't want to scare myself out of it. Everyone said it would be so easy. They had no issues. Well... I'm having a hard time with this. Has anyone experienced taking a pill and out of no where a surge of acid comes up your throat and you start vomiting? The dr said i need more water. But how if its coming all up? Is this still gas from the surgery? What is wrong and when will this stop? The dietician said I swallow too mucj air when I drink so it's going to be harder for me to adjust. Has anyone else dealt with this? Please help. I'm feeling hopeless at this point.
Thanks for reading.
I was on crushed pills for two weeks. Are you able to swallow water and protein shake okay?
I know some folks get a little more swollen than others. Good sign that you can drink and get down protein shakes. You have to talk to your surgeon about crushing. Some pills are delayed released and can't be crushed, but I would say until your swelling goes down it might be worth the effort. Feel better soon!
Ask your pharmacist if ok to crush, if yes hopefully that will help. Good luck!

It's coming up because lower volume = higher pressure and your stomach is now a higher pressure system. You might need to take a different PPI for the first few months, or take two a day. You also need to drink more water - how much are you getting right now?
Drinking with a straw might help you to swallow less air if you're not trying that already.

Quick question about the straw, my surgeon said no straws for 3 months post-op due to air, when were you given clearance for straws?
I started with a straw about 2 weeks post op yo help get fluids down.
Since you can drink protein drinks, you might find things like Crystal Light rather than plain water easier.

Are you on a PPI for the acid? If not, you need one pronto.
