My doc never made us give up caffeine. They suggest no more than one cup a day in the beginning

I wasn't given any limits on caffeine, & have 16 oz tea & 16 oz coffee every morning, & a diet Snapple, sometimes, mid day. Caveat, I do have reflux, & I'm sure the caffeine is exacerbating it. There's only so much I can live without though

Because I knew coffee could be irritating to my sleeve, I weaned myself off before surgery. My surgeon allows it on the first post-op day if the patient wants. She says it's not enough of a diuretic to worry about, and the main issue is that it can be irritating.
I found that I really liked not being addicted to the caffeine and having to drink it every day. I didn't have a caffeinated drin****il probably about 6 months post-op. I didn't start drinking coffee again even semi-regularly until after about a year. Then I found myself having one more days than not and gave up the fight to stay un-addicted. LOL.
I worried a little when my doc wanted to trial off the PPIs but I haven't had any acid issues other than the occasional slight issue that resolves with tums, and no reflux.
So everyone's different, and it likely just boils down to if your sleeve likes it or not. And if not right now, you can always wait a few months and try again. I could tolerate a lot of stuff at 6 months that I couldn't at 3. And once I was about 10 months out, I could eat pretty much everything.
