What's your "favorite" exercise?
I walk. Sometimes it is together with socializing, sometimes it is dog walking, sometimes it is hiking, sometimes it is good alone time. Regardless I figure it is something I can keep up with until I die (hopefully a long time from now, but I'd like to keep walking until the end).

So, right after surgery -for about the first 6-7 months, I was in the gym working with a trainer - standard stuff, elliptical, bike, weights. Then I discovered reformer Pilates - changed my life.
Then, the child, who had been fencing for 2 years decided to take a sabbatical with 4 of 5 private lessons expiring in the next 30 days(which were paid for.) So I took the lessons.
Guess what - I love to fence. I fence, on average, 5 hours week and am in the gym lifting and conditioning to support my fencing another 3 hours a week with at least 1-2 hours of Pilates as well. If I don't work out, I get grumpy now.

I would love to learn fencing. I am going to have to look around for someone local.

LittleBill - if you go to this page on USA Fencing's site - https://member.usafencing.org/search/clubs - you can search by city or zip code for clubs in your area.
I've been fencing for 13 months and will be competing in my age group at Summer Nationals in July!

Hiking, like Cecily, I go about 2-3 times per week to different areas that are all within 10 miles of my home. I never thought I would like it and could never understand how anyone would enjoy climbing up a mountain. I preferred to see nature from my car for the last 15 or so years. It is nice to not have to force myself to do it anymore.

After I had surgery, I picked up my bike and started riding it several times a week. At first, I could do a mile or two before stopping because I was so tired. A few weeks short of my one-year surgery anniversary, I did a 40-mile ride!
In the past few months, I've taken up roller derby. It's AWESOME exercise! Skating laps is great cardio, and playing actual contact games is an amazing upper-body workout. I did a scrimmage last night and was completely exhausted, my heart rate was in the fat-burn zone for a solid 90 minutes. (Plus I got to smack into people, which is a blast!)
