Any Snack Recommendations

Hey Everyone,

I am 2 weeks post-op today. I'm on Phase 2 of my sleeve diet, and now that I can eat some pureed foods, I wanted to if anyone has any suggestions to snack that I could eat?

I've already had my breakfast and lunch? and I don't want to eat dinner at 4 p.m. I would rather snack on something until Dinner time.

Please help.

The same things you ate for breakfast and lunch? Maybe a protein shake to ensure you're getting enough protein?

Hi Gwen.

for breakfast I had some applesauce. For lunch i had some cream of broccoli soup. And a friend of mines who had her surgery told me i could buy some really soft cheese puffs and suck on them. So, i just filled a snack bag up with about 10 and i sucked on them and it fulled me for my snacks. Now eating dinner and drinking water.

Whaaaaat?!

At this point, your diet should be primarily protein. Protein shakes, yogurt, cottage cheese, pureed meats. You should not be eating applesauce, cream of broccoli soup, or sucking on cheese puffs.

You should be getting in 60 grams of protein and 64+ ounces of liquids.

The protein shakes im currently in the process of finding the right ones. Because following my dietician and nurse practitioner and weight loss sheet, i can only have no more than 8oz of a protein shake a day. And it has to be under 150 calories. Which i find to be a struggle because I can't find anyt protein shakes under 150 calories. :(

diring the day i have to get 64 oz of liquid a day. But thats non sugar or calorie drinks. It's a bit hard understanding this phase.

Look up isopure. I make one every morning still and when I make it with 8oz of unsweetened almond milk I end up with a 140 calorie shake with 25 grams of protein and 1carb. So they are out there you have to look for them.

HELL NO!

Cheese puffs are NOT an acceptable food post-op. Your friend is giving you terrible advice. Stop listening to her and go back to your surgeon's list of acceptable foods to eat during the post-op healing stages.

You need to be doing high protein and low carb. Protein shakes, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, ricotta cheese, and meats pureed to baby-food consistency are good options.

Holy crap. Sucking on cheese puffs? Seriously? That's going on my crappy advice hall of fame list.

6'3" tall, male.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

Oh no! No cheese puffs. You're in your weightloss "honeymoon" phase. You should be eating protein based meals to get to your required 65-70 grams per day. I went straight from liquids to soft foods. My program doesn't do purée. However you could do an egg drop soup, plain yogurt, cottage cheese, you could squish up meatballs, or have a protein shake. A lot of folks like premier, and you can find them in Walmart, Costco, and several other places. You should also be having a multi vitamin (possibly chewable) along with a slew of other vitamins depending on your program. Be mindful that this is not only to maximize your surgical outcome, but it's also for your health. You could potentially suffer heart problems from lack of protein (most severe complication), but there are several other complications that could arise. Please be careful and take care of yourself!
