16 months out - pain the left shoulder after eating?

Hello all,

This is my first post -but I have read several posts over my journey in this forum! After doing an extension search - I am not sure if my question was asked previously.

I am 16 months out of VSG and I am now experiencing a dull pain in my left shoulder shortly after eating. I do battle with acid reflux - but its manageable with 2 to 3 PPI's a week. I do not experience any symptoms. Other than this - nothing else is going on. I still have my gallbladder and have had no issues so far.

Any thoughts on what's causing this pain? My one-year check up with my surgeon is not until November.

Thanks!

This seems strange for 16 months out and I would recommend scheduling with your PCP sooner rather than later to get it checked out.

Sounds like the reflux, overeating or an ulcer. See your surgeon.

Sounds like it could be an ulcer. Call you surgeon!

Since your check up isn't until November, I agree with Gwen, make an appointment with your PCP. It's just a good idea to get it checked out.

Thanks all! its like a light bulb went off! I am not sure why I didn't consider the possibility of an ulcer - I only thought of ulcers as leading to tummy/back aches and not shoulder and arm pain - but our friend Google, confirms that this is an unusual presentation of an ulcer.

Called my surgeon and got an appointment for May 11th. Will update you all.

Thanks again.

Where you still have your gallbladder, that's worth considering. Try to notice if the pain happens after you've eaten something fatty vs. not at all for no-fat foods.

In a nutshell, I lived on Special K for the weeks between diagnosis to gall bladder removal.
