6 Month Bariatric Appointment
Normal. Not a word used for my in almost any context, lol.
All labs (13 of them) were in the middle of normal. A1C was perfect. Cholesterol under 100. Angina that was totally unmanageable is gone. (Well, and a lot of hair but grateful for good wigs from my chemo days).
Dr. Heider said if I didn't lose another lb, all my scans showed I was in normal (22 BMI) and that I had lost fat, not muscle.
We talked about maintenance. Thank goodness for Ann and her wise posts about her plan. I'm adopting the fact that I have to continue to track my food (even accountability to an app helps). I have decided my weight needs a daily check, and my fluctuation is about 2 lbs up or down from 128. So 3 lbs up is a "cut back" and re-evaluate what I ate differently.
100 gram a day protein goal, and 1100 max calories. I am in a size 4 pants, small tops. Dresses an 8. (My shoes are all a bit too big -- guess I had pudgy feet -- but I found some toe things that fill up the difference way better than the kleenex.
I am fine with wigs; he said the loss was not a surprise after two surgeries & transfusions on my VSG day. Having had chemo for 3 separate cancers, I've done wigs before and am creative with head scarfs. And the estimated time of new growth is Aug-September so hoping to have enough hair back for a cut before Christmas.
Life is good! Y'all are the best support group going, and thank you Miss Ann for telling me about it.
I am going on an overnight retreat with a dear friend; it will be nice to have some quiet time. I am also taking my Premier Protein shakes with me because I'm not sure what kind of food there will be.
