When did everyone eat real food??
Happy Easter/Holiday everyone. Just wondering when everyone started eating real solid food after surgery?? I'm 3 and a half weeks post op and wondering if eating things like red meat, lamb, tomatoes etc. is ok. When did everyone start??? Thanks! !
The best thing that you can do is ask your nutritionist or follow whatever program that your bariatric clinic uses. There are too many varied programs to really ask this question to and get an answer that is appropriate for you.
I had RNY on 9/22/02. I couldn't leave the hospital until I could eat scrambled eggs which were served the next morning. I ate them with no problem. I was never on any type of restricted foods. I eat anything I want and always have. I had surgery at 335 lbs and lost 125 lbs. in 6 months. I had ups and downs. Sometimes ate to much and would throw up. That lasted for a few years. But not so much anymore. I usually drink to much iced tea before I eat so I don't eat much but usually eat again in about 30 minutes. The one thing I really craved and could eat a lot of post surgery was cashews. I saw my doctor once post surgery and then quit going to see him because I did not like his attitude. I have gained about 25 lbs. since surgery 15 1/2 years ago.
Oh yeah, I did drink protein shakes for a few months post surgery for breakfast. The other two meals and snacks were regular food.
At 7 days, I started scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. After two weeks, I was allowed soft-cooked vegetables and tender white fish and chicken. After 5 weeks, I could have anything.
