Exercise days and weight loss days

So, I'm about 5/6 months out and I started exercising at around 2 months, Mon-Fri. I started to notice that around month 3/4 to current I only lose weight on days I didn't exercise - so every weekend. I notice it more so now. I will stay the same weight all week and then the weekend comes and I'm down a couple of pounds. Am I crazy or has anyone else experienced this? I have no intention of stopping exercising because I'm sure that contributes to loss, but I just don't understand why I can't lose during the week. Ive never been a workout person so maybe it's common knowledge that I am unaware of. Just a curious question. I'm still losing so I'm happy!

Are you "eating" the calories you are burning while exercising? Sometimes, people up their intake the day after a workout. Also, remember, muscle weighs more than fat. However, at 5-6 months out, I shifted from weighing daily to weighing weekly.

I exercise - a lot. As in a fence 5 hours a week and am in the gym another 3-5 each week. I have 1 or 2 rest days, but usually just 1. While my numbers aren't changing drastically at this point (I'm almost 2 years out) my shape is changing - a lot. As in enough for people to comment even though I got on the scale last week ad gained 2 pounds, but my clothes are looser and I have a more defined abdomen.

So, monitor your eating. Keep exercising. The weight will come off. Don't stress the ups and downs.

Keep on losing!

Hard exercise tears muscle fibers (that's how they get stronger). The body repairs those fibers by sending in white blood cells and that creates fluid build up in the muscles. If you are working out to the point of even minor soreness you are retaining water weight. I normally see a temporary bump with intense exercise and then a drop within 1-2 days. I just started running again after another surgery and I'm up a couple of pounds even though I know I'm burning significantly more calories.

Ditto the question above - are you eating different on days you exercise?

I see a similar pattern, but it all evens out in the end!

Maybe I am doing something wrong then. I eat differently during the week or the days I work out. For convenience, since I work, I have two protein shakes and one meal (always dinner) those days - this has been okay'd by my NP. On the weekends, I eat more real food and usually only one meal is some sort of protein replacement, but basically I'm at the same caloric intake and all of my macros are around the same range all throughout the week.

Thanks all for your input :)

As long as you aren't eating more calories you should be totally fine to eat like that!

Ditto what Erin said. The "problem" that people run in to with exercise is that they will eat more to "fuel" their exercise. Which is unnecessary for most exercise. So as long as you're not changing your calories/proteins, you're fine and you're just a stair step loser :)

I had my VGS 2/26, and followed everything to the letter, or so I think I did. I'm keeping track of all my food, all my exercise, all my water, etc. I started at 226 pounds in October. At the time of my surgery, I was 205. 3/29 I was so excited I was at 190, my lowest weight in years, and was so looking forward to moving in to the 180's. Instead, I gained 2 pounds the next day, and 1 pound each day to the point I'm back up to 195 today. I walk every morning for 15 - 30 minutes at 1.5 mph. Every hour I make sure I walk a minimum of 250 steps. I started using a couple of videos to work out with; one a HIIT, which I found quickly I am very out of shape. I also did one called Barre. I can only do about 15 minutes of the HIIT, and about 30 on the Barre.

I'm just so disappointed in the fact the scales went up instead of down. I don't know if I'm doing too much exercise or what the problem is, but I wish somebody could give me a clue. Has anybody else had these kind of issues? I get all my protein in every day, but by the time I get it in at each meal, I'm too full to eat anything else, except once in a while I can get in a small container of applesauce. I can't eat 2 eggs and a piece of toast or something of that nature. I can't even do 2 eggs at 1 meal.

At the same time I had my sleeve done, the doc repaired my hiatal hernia that was discovered before surgery. Until surgery, I had a difficult time eating due to never knowing what would set off the acid reflux. It's been heaven not having to worry about that any more.

This is my 1st post, so I hope I haven't given too much information.
