Never got to onederland - I think I became scared of success

I could use some encouragement as I begin again with this tool. I feel very blessed to have my surgery done in 7/14 but I let my slow losses after about 8 wks start to discourage me. I started at 264 and lost down to 204 3 years ago before sort of freaking out before I got under 200. All I can think of is that I was basically afraid of success and going all the way with this. I am starting again today at 229. My goal is 124.

This makes sense to me. I know after a while many grow weary of the attention/compliments. A natural reaction to deter attention- stop the thing causing the attention.

I have you figured out the fear? How will you not let it prevent you this time?

You can do it! Your tool still works. A good therapist might make a world of difference. Good luck!

You can do it - I'm 4 years out and still losing weight, so it's totally possible if you work at it. I recommend a therapist too. Working with one might help you figure out why you got scared and help you get to where you want to be.

Stick around, we can cheer you on!

I know the feeling -- I had surgery 5/14, and haven't reached Onderland yet.

Started off great. Losing well, and then had several major life "upsets". Weight loss stopped, and I gained 20 pounds.

Well, the major upsets are behind me, and I have lost the 20 pound gain, but I am struggling to get to Onderland. I have been thinking hard about it, and wondered about "fear" being the culprit. I am seeing a therapist, and I'm still struggling, trying all sorts of things to get the ball rolling steadily. I will never throw my hands up and surrender....my battle continues!

Exactly! Do you still feel a lot of restriction? I do, so I know the sleeve still works if I eat my protein and veggies only.

In my case, after the initial loss, I started a great new job after being home with kids for over 20 years. I had a great start at work but began feeling very tired in the afternoon and turned to hard candy (which I never ate before!) to pick me up. They were so small! Not even very good...I could never abuse one or two of these...well I did!

Anyway, people at my job never knew me before my weight loss and accepted me as-is very well. I was still a bit plump at my lowest weight of 204, but easily acceptable for my age (56). I didn't really feel the need to keep going with the loss and worried that my new friends at work may even catch on to my surgery if I did. :(

Now that I have put back in about 20 lbs, they must surely wonder what is going on.

As of 3 days ago, no more cheating with sweets. I'm gonna lose again. I owe it to myself to get to onederland, then down to my goal weight.

Good luck to us both. We can do this.
