Weight Loss Slowed

5 months out, I've lost 64 lbs!! I'm thrilled with my progress and have been sticking to my plan, but now I'm only losing about one pound a week. I've been consistent with 2 or so a week before, and haven't changed anything about my diet or exercise. My doc says I should up my cal intake to 1000-1200 a day, right now I do 600-800. Is this something that I should do to begin losing again? I'm afraid that my body is "comfortable" at my current weight and that I won't lose any more. Help!!!

Don't increase calories. That's just a bunch of malarkey. Track your food closely. Focus on protein. Drink a lot.

If you are doing those things, it will happen.

It might be helpful to post what you eat in a day so others can offer suggestions. Are you getting over 64oz of fluid? How many grams of protein are you eating? In my opinion I would stick to 600-800 calories while you are in the loosing phase.

Depending on your overall size, this may be what you are going to lose - I am 5' tall and the weight loss did slow down for the last few months. You may want to up your activity. Just stick with it - you'll get where you want to be.

A smaller body requires fewer calories to operate. As you lose weight, your caloric deficit (difference between what you take in and what you expend) shrinks, which means you lose more slowly. This is completely normal!

Ignore your doctor's suggestion and keep doing what you're doing.

The most important thing to track is calories. I cannot lose on more than 800 a day. So sorry, but your doctor is wrong for telling you to increase calories before you reach and exceed your goal weight.

Weight loss slows, it's a thing. One pound a week is great!

Thanks everyone. I don't understand why my doc would tell me to increase cals. She also told me I'll only be able to lose weight for about 9 months after surgery. It just worries me!!
