Saw my surgeon's PA yesterday. I lost 20lbs in 2 mnths. I guess 10lbs/mnth must be my magic number. He told me he was happy with the weightloss, but wants me to lose 30 before the next visit (mid May).Geez that is a lot of pressure. I was happy with my 20 in two months. Anyone think this is unreasonable?

It's reasonable, just stick with the plan!

Did you ask why the PA wants you to lose 30? Arbitrary weight loss goals are pretty useless.

He said 10-15 per mnth is the norm but wants me to be at the higher end I guess. I assumed because I'm a higher BMI patient but not sure.

I never set a time limit because it sets me off if i don't achieve it. Just take it a day at a time and do your best

Thank you. That's what I figure. I don't want to set myself up for failure.

I never do well with goals like that. My mode was just to do my best day to day following my plan, which is all that's under my control, and the scale will do whatever it does.

Your weight and BMI are high enough that you can certainly lose 30 pounds in the next two months. It will never be this easy to lose in the future, ever. And I've seen a lot of those who believed slow and steady was a good philosophy end up falling completely off the wagon.

People like to think this is a marathon, not a race. And it does become a marathon -- a lifelong marathon -- after 2 years. But that first year it should be a hell bent for leather race. Faster is much better. And 30 pounds over 2 months is certainly reasonable.
