Whatcha Eating Today VSGers? Wednesday, 2/21/2018

The scariest part of maintenance for me is testing the limits and realizing that my limits are such that I could gain the weight back if I'm not careful. So it's so good to give serious thought to these moments when they happen since it just gets easier as you get further out from surgery! Reigning in destructive behavior before it actually gets destructive is the way to do it. Many of us have decades of learned, unproductive, food-based coping behavior and it's inevitable that those habits will rear their heads again down the line. How we handle it will determine our success!

I also snack on jerky nearly daily. I weigh everything into 1 oz portions and keep them in baggies in the fridge at work so I don't worry about over eating. It's SO easy to overeat when you don't weigh and measure.

I eat 5-6 acceptable high protein small meals a day (calling them breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks). That has worked best for me from the very beginning to keep me from craving (and eating) carby snacks too often. Though like all of us I do crave them and do cave periodically.

I quickly went back to Monday's post to make sure I didn't reply with anything that might make you think that you should feel guilty. I didn't, but it makes me realize how hypersensitive I am, to the point of being ridiculous:-)

No one made me feel like I should be guilty. As a matter of fact, I don't believe anyone has ever said anything directly to me on here that made me feel bad. Quite the opposite. Some of you have really made me think and examine my intentions and feelings, but that is a good thing.

Hugs all around!

Happy HUMP day! I'm looking forward to Saturday; I feel that I did not receive adequate rest this week, haha.

QOTD: I'm not sure...perhaps a countdown clock to buying a home? That's an abstract plan with no actual date, but it would be nice to know. We have been working on repairing our credit (I got laid off when I was 19 and making 11 bucks an hour, right after buying a car, getting a credit card, and signing a lease.) Luckily, I was able to find a job quickly and save the car, but the credit card and eviction have been on my report ever since. It's been almost 10 years. I've gotten it up from a low 500 to a mid 600 in the past two years and I've been steadily working at it! I'm hoping we can be home-owners by the time I'm 30! I'm sick of renting.

B: Special K protein cereal with skim

L: Hillshire salami, cheese snack pack

You may want to inquire, at whatever bariatric program you are using, if they have a counselor on hand. Binge eating is not necessarily stopped by having the surgery. Believe me, I know, as I also have an issue with binge eating. Talk to a counselor who can help.

Just for the record, Yvonne has had VSG. So I'm sure they know binge eating is still a problem post-op!

QOTD: If you had a clock that would countdown to any one event of your choosing, what event would you want it to countdown to? Without a doubt, I am counting down to retirement! I have a job I used to love, but no longer do and only stay because of my hubbies checkered working background. (He is having a hard time keeping a job since being let go about 6 years ago.) I carry the benefits, which we need.

1: Sausage link and cheese

S1: Banana/egg pancakes with PB

2: Meatloaf

3: CHicken

S2: SF/FF chocolate pudding pop (home made - I put a used and washed popcicle stick in a bathroom size cup of pudding. Problem solved!)

Saw the psychiatrist today, whom I haven't seen since August. She was amazed at my weight loss progress and when she told me, I started to cry. She is the first person who actually, without being somewhat prompted, made the comment. Now, to work on my self-worth..
