Looking at the stats on the bag, this looks to give a good protein to cal ratio. Fat is good and carbs are non-existent. Opinions on Pork Rinds in general and these in particular?

Pork Clouds

Snack? Use for breading? Stay away completely? What do you all think?

Pork rinds are a regular part of my diet. I buy them from walmart.com and have them shipped to the house. I hate going into Walmart. My favorites are salt and pepper or barbecue.

I don't care for them personally, but the stats are good. JB buys them by the bucket.

Be careful though, because you can graze through a billion of them in the course of a day. Same with nuts and cheese. It's best to weigh and log portions of things like these.

the protein in them is from collagen, since they are actually fried pieces of pig skin. Collagen is the protein in animal skin.

You couldnt count it toward your protein total for the day.

Agreed. The body does not absorb collagen protein NEARLY as well as other forms. You're best off meeting your protein goals with things like meat, soy, and whey products.

Too easy to eat too many.

They fit into my rule of thumb (no more than 10 calories for every gram of protein). The single serving pouches seem good because they've got built in portion control.

I've never been a fan of pork rinds, though. They've got a weird aftertaste that bugs me. Fresh chicharrón, though?! Sign me up!

I tried them for the first time this past weekend, and I don't care for them. But my friends who do keto love them and use them instead of chips for dipping and such.

I find the UTZ brand tub on Amazon to be the least porky flavored... I do keep it in the closet for the occasional crunch. Out of sight out of mind they last forever. I made a breading with pork rinds, parmesan crisp crumbs and parmesan cheese. It was fantastic.

I wouldn't eat them regularly in the losing stage as calories do count and it is easy to overeat on any chip type thing.

I could see using them as a breading ingredient to make low-fat Wiener schnitzel -( breaded thin pounded veal cutlets) which is traditionally pan fried in pork fat -

I?d replace some of the flour ( I use fat free biscuit mix, powdered garlic and onion butter buds and paprika ) with pork rinds and then brown on both sides using spray oil before smothering in mushroom sauce .

As a snack food though - honestly I shudder. Just .
