6 years ago , I read every single post on this wonderful forum. I can't begin to say how much Obesity Help has changed my life, all the fantastic advice I took and support was endless.

Night before VSG : 120 kilos

1 year post op: 55 kilos

1 baby and 6 years later: 68 kilos today.

I have always been a binge eater, a monster that takes over your mind and controls your hands and fingers to stuff chocolates and high caloric foods down your throat :(

I tried to control myself but what helped me the most was my tight new sleeve.

I'm researching around fiber pills for feeling that fullness again :(

please don't judge me as I have been to many therapists and drs and struggled my whole life with this disorder and I have regained control over my mind many times before and will try to do so again but I'm just feeling very disappointed with my self and wanted to reach out to the place that always understood what I was going through.

I was diagnosed with Binge Eating Disorder in 2016 - in retrospect, I have suffered from BED for significantly longer, I just wasn't aware that BED disorder existed and I was too ashamed of my habits to talk with a medical professional about it anyway.

But I was diagnosed in 2016 and started taking Vyvanse (the only FDA approved medication for BED) and it has been life changing.

BED truly sucks and, for me, all the willpower in the world wasn't going to "solve" it.

I've been going to a psychiatrist now for 6 months for BED. VSG doesn't make the urge go away, it just hinders the intake amount. Now being 1 year out though, I'm finding I can fit a LOT more in than 6 months ago and that really, really scares me. My doctor wouldn't prescribe Vyvanse for me because of my "age" (58). She has put me on Wellbutrin and as of today, I can't tell any difference. Hopefully in a few weeks she can up the dosage. I will say though that VSG was the best option for me.

I'm sorry your doctor put you on Welbutrin for BED. All of my research into BED medication shows that depression meds aren't effective for treatment.

Just curious: why not prescribe Vyvanse at 58?

Your tight sleeve is still there if you use it! Look up chia seed pudding recipes for filling fiber and fill your house and life with dense protein.

You're right, I'm well aware that my food choices have become horrible.

I'm trying so hard to start over, hopefully I can start eating right soon.

I have also been diagnosed with BED. I'm not on any meds, but I'm only a year out and haven't gotten to the rebound stage yet. I know you said you've been to many therapists, but are you able to work with one that you trust? A good therapist can help you gain self awareness and understanding. Your words are pretty self deprecating. I know when I'm in a space like that I feel much more out of control.

Like I said, I'm not far enough out to know this for fact, but I doubt you need fiber pills to feel full. Try measuring and eating a dense protein (slowly) and really try to feel when you start to get full. My guess is that your restriction isn't gone, you've simply stopped using it.

I'm sure you know this, but bingeing isn't about physical hunger. Learning how to work out all the head stuff is a life long thing for some of us. I'm sending you a virtual hug.
