There are plenty of high quality vitamins that don't contain iron, so I'm not sure why you're focusing on that when we tell you Flintstones is insufficient. There are many other vitamins and minerals that can cause problems when deficient (or toxic).

Compare the labels for the Flinstone Complete Chewablesand the Centrum Adult Chewables. They are basically the same, with the exception of Magnesium, which I take as a supplement every day, anyway.

I don't know what labels you are looking at. But there are a great many things Flintstones are missing and very short on compared to Centrum, and any other good complete adult multi. And there are plenty of choices with no iron if that's what you want.

I did a comparison of Flinstones to the ASMBS guidelines quite a while ago. No, they are not "basically the same."

I would rather deal with a deficiency of iron than real with rectal cancer again. Until you have had internal radiation along with chemo, you have NO CLUE what I dealt with.

Just make sure you compare the RDV for the complete vitamin/mineral content of 2 Flinstones against the recommendations from the ASMBS, who (IMO) out-rank your bariatric team.

You can always take a multivitamin that does not include iron and then take the iron separately (or not at all, your choice). This way you get the right amount for you and can take it separate from calcium (and thyroid medicine if applicable) for proper absorption.

I take 2 regular multivitamins w/iron with breakfast and a calcium with both lunch and dinner. My meals were on a timer for quite a while, now its just routine.
