Benadryl

Is it safe to use Benadryl after a VSG? I know Advil is a NO but my allergies are killing me I need some Benadryl. I called my Drs Office and the MA took a Message but by the time they call me back im going to be in a lot of pain. I Accidently put on some perfume im allergic too and my eyes are so itchy and so is my throat.

No one here can give medical advice, but I have never heard anything against Benadryl, and take it regularly myself. The issuse with NSAIDs (that includes Advil and Aleve) is that they greatly increase the risk for ulcers, as well as generally being hard on your stomach. Benadryl is a completely different medication and as far as I've ever heard has no particular effects on the stomach that would cause a problem with VSG.

I take it all the time. It was approved by my surgeon.
