Whatcha Eating Today VSGers? Wednesday 1/17/18
Good Morning! Today is my 1-year surgiversary! One year ago today I was already on the 90-minute drive to the Bari center to change my life. In the last year, I have lost nearly 100lbs, but I can't even fully quantify the things that I've gained. A big thank you goes out to each of you for your support along the way!
QOTD: What is your greatest NSV to date? Mine is the fact that my weight no longer holds me down. It used to, quite literally, impede me from living my life. I may not have known it at the time, but there was so much out there that I wanted to do and couldn't or wouldn't because of my weight. For the first time in my adult life I don't fear growing older.

Congratulations on the surgiversary Erin! Wow, you have come a long way!
For me, today is the continuation of yesterday. I am doing a deep, deep "spring" cleaning in the house. I'm taking it down to bare walls and giving everything a good scrub. Which brings us to the answer for the QOTD:
QOTD: Being able to clean my own house. Sure, my knees ache, Yes, my back hurts, but dang it... at least I can do it now and not fall over from a heart attack. And the sense of accomplishment is absolutely huge. The pride and satisfaction are off the charts.
M1: Coffee, PP vanilla
M2: Egg, ribeye and ½ a turkey sausage patty
M3: Shrimp
M4: Ribeye
M5: Mock lasagna (no noodles), Have a 3 section pan so will make two others with noodles for the family.
S: Jerky or other protein forward snack if needed.
E: Nothing formal. Cleaning...
Water/Vits: on track

Happy surgiversary! You have had a great year Erin and have done so well, it truly inspires others.
QOTD: My greatest NSV is my improved health. I went into WLS because I was at the point where I was fearing that a heart attack was imminent. Now I feel like I have a shot at living the long healthy life that many in my mother's family have enjoyed rather than following my father's side where everyone in the prior two generations died early from a heart attack in middle age.
1 year, 10 months post-op
B: eggs, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon
L: cheeseburger without bun (burgers by the pool day)
D: Crab cakes

Congrats on your surgiversary! Happy to hear that you are doing well and not regretting it! I also want to thank you guys. You are the support I really needed! Glad the nurse on the bariatric floor told me about this site.
QOTD: For the first time in 4 years, I actually kept up with my hubby, didn't use a wheelchair, when we went to the warehouse store (BJ's), then Tractor Supply and finally the grocery store! Was I tired when I got home? Heck yes!! But, I wasn't huffing or in pain.
M1: 2.5 oz chicken tender followed by 1/4 oz RF cheddar cheese
M2: 1/4 c. oatmeal w/2 oz PP
M3: ham and stringbeans
M4: leftover cheeseburger w/onions and pickles
M5: 4 oz premiere protein
Congrats on your surgiversary Erin! You must feel fantastic :D
QOTD: Since I'm only 4 months post-op I haven't had many NSV's but really it's similar to yours so far. I didn't realize how housebound I had become due to the shame and lack of self-confidence. I'm starting to see my friends again and I have plans almost every day of the week now. It's amazing!
B: 1 egg, 1/4c honeydew melon, black coffee
S1: Protein2O - Mixed Berry Flavour
L: 3oz Salmon, a few slices of avocado
S2: 1/4c blueberries and 1 Babybel mozzarella
D: 3.5oz New York Strip, a few bites of steamed veg

Good morning,
Qotd better health that I can do stuff for myself instead of someone else doing it for me.
B ham and cheese omelette and string cheese
L tuna, cottage cheese and honeycrisp apple
D crack chicken and riced cauliflower
Have a good day
Congrats to you!! I was thinking, when I read your post elsewhere, of the phrase "I have gained so much more than I have lost." :) It's pretty amazing, isn't it!
QOTD: I have so many really great, huge, awesome NSVs. I attribute my return to college pretty much entirely to my weight loss and reclamation of my health. I also attribute "surviving" my dad's death to reclaiming my health. Seeking a diagnosis and treatment for my BED? I never would have done those things without weight loss because I would have felt like I would have just been dismissed as obese and lazy. Running a half marathon? LOL. I wouldn't have run pre-op even if a bear was chasing me. I would have imitated Leo in The Revenant. :P
1: protein shake
2-3: leftover Chicken Soup with Asparagus, Black Forest Ham, and White Beans - I pretty much doubled the chicken, ham, and beans, so it's a very hearty soup. I'm saying it's two meals because I needed to eat some when I got home from fitness class due to mistakenly taking my multivitamin right after class on an empty stomach and then feeling nauseated. (I know better than to do this too.) So I'm eating about 1/4 of the meal now and I'll eat the rest when it's actually lunch time, which is closer to 2pm.
4: Immigrant's Beef - a flank steak recipe from The Immigrant Cookbook which is our next Cookbook Club pick. I used it for meal planning this week and Cookbook Club is on Sunday!
liquid and vites: on track
exercise: pilates class, yoga class

It is! My friend and I started one after reading this article -- http://www.seriouseats.com/2015/10/how-to-start-a-cookbook-c lub.html
We meet four times a year and the host picks the cookbook. We have a Facebook group to connect people and then a google doc for each meeting so people can claim their recipes. We've had a few duds, but most of the meetings have been super and I've yet to put anything bad into my mouth. :D
