The Cold
I have a question for all you two years and out VSGers........does the feeling cold all the time ever subside or at least, lessen?
Granted we're having a crazy cold winter here in Maine, but having to bundle up like Nanook fo the North 24/7 is wearing thin.
Thanks for any insight.

Most people seem to think it gets a little better over time, but this is a consequence of WLS that folks just have to live with.
Scientists don't even know what causes it, and don't seem it's worth investigating. It's somehow part of the metabolic and endocrine changes that help us lose weight and kick diabetes.
Sorry I can't be more helpful. Bundle up.

It got better for me for a little bit, but now it's worse again. I figure that it's gotten worse due to reconstructive surgery. Or that it got better when I was binging and is now worse because I'm eating correctly and losing again.

Thanks, Gwen!
I wouldn't trade the weight loss for being warmer (with the extra bulk) for anything. Thankfully, I've got lots of layering clothes. :D
I'm so glad to hear your reconstructive surgeries have gone so well. I'd love to have my boobs put back where they should be at some point, but that will be quite awhile out. You are truly the poster child of inspiration for VSG and PS!!

I live in Arizona, and my coworkers all laugh at me because I have an electric blanket on my chair!
I got a little better a year or two after surgery, but I'm still noticeably chilly. Even in the summertime when it's 110 degrees, I'll be freezing in the A/C and wearing cardigans!
Still definitely worth the trade-off, I think :)

VSG 2013, RNY conversion 2019 due to GERD. Trendweight here!
I walked around on July 4th wearing a down coat and a hat even though it was in the high 90s the year of my VSG. Luckily, everyone already knew I was crazy :P
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

I don't get as hot as I used to because I don't have the insulation anymore. But I don't get the same bone cold I had in the first few months post-op. I think I got to my new "normal" at around 6-9 months post-op more or less.

Oh, so it isn't just me?? My hubby thought I was crazy the other night when I got up and put another blanket on my side of the bed. He rolled over and couldn't believe how cold my legs and feet were! I have had studies done and my blood flow to both feet is fine. When he asked what was going on, I didn't have an answer. Now I know!
